Hades 2 update + "Real Life"

schneefinkThe first major update for Hades 2 came out and it's great, I love the new boss especially.
The update came out as a surprise during the week and I immediately accepted that I would stay up late ^^
I decided not to watch the update trailer and play immediately because I like to be surprised. I died twice on the ships, once in a god trial and once against Eris, before I remembered to turn God Mode back on… this is about discovery, after all.
So, Olympus! It looks very cool. So does Prometheus, fantastic design, with the fire, and the eagle (he made friends with the eagle!), and especially his death animation.
And Mel has a mech suit now :D Xinth, the Black Coat. I tried it out with aspect of Nyx and I enjoy it a lot. Though, I'm playing it as a short range weapon rn and that will probably be very different once I turn off the 74% damage reduction, but for now I'm having fun.
I did watch the trailer eventually and saw that Athena and Dionysus can appear now! (So the only god from the first game that's still missing is Ares...) I've met Dionysus since then, the ally on Olympus, having a party while the mountain is under siege. (I was surprised how many shades there were, is that just because the gates to the underworld are currently open?)
I made it to Prometheus three times so far and it occurred to me that all three times I had Circe's enlargen spell that makes Mel as big as a titan, that'll be a change the first time she faces him in her actual size ^^
And today I got into Hypnos' dream! Love the design. I also did another run downstairs because I was looking for the new familiars, didn't see them yet unfortunately.
Even apart from his very cool design, Prometheus is a great choice for a boss fight because it adds another part to the "are the gods the "good guys" here" question. Not that Melinoe is concerned about that, it's very black and white for her, but several other characters, most notably Nemesis, are much more aware of it. Even Melinoe had to admit that the gods treated Prometheus badly. I'm very curious to what degree that will actually be addressed at some point. Prometheus, the titan of foresight, called Mel "Agent of Change," which hints at something big.
I've seen speculation that the final boss of the overworld route is Typhon and that seems very plausible to me, I look forward to finding out.
New Life series starts tomorrow!, I'm very excited.
That reminded me that I completely forgot to post here about Real Life, the surprise one-off April Fools special where they all played Minecraft in VR and it was great.
Some of my favorite moments:
- Martyn demanding taxes from everyone because this is real life
- the size differences! So good. big!BigB patting tiny!Skizz on the head, tiny!Scar flailing at Grian...
- Scar and Grian hug!
- every time RL!Grian laughs and throws his head back
- the Macarena dance party
- Pearl giving Cleo a flower
- the sleepover and the closest Jimmy and Joel will ever come to making out
- Scar wanting to join the red club with Grian and Jimmy, not realizing this meant he was volunteering to get killed
- Scott telling Joel that since this is real life they can finally be friends in a Life series
- the return of Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss
- RL!Scott jumping when fighting
- everyone lying on the floor, in game and IRL, consoling Pearl about Milly dying
- Pearl going on red and starting to monologue because she thought her series was over
- "Just admit that you're scared of me" "I'm terrified of you" "Good."
- the perfect top 3, and the perfect winner!!!
And the way Cleo won was perfect too, waiting for the zombie to finish Scott off for her xD And then gleefully blowing themself up via creeper. Cleo is the best, and I can hardly wait to see what they get up to in the new series.
