schneefinkFinally, about a month late, my notes for the last three episodes of Wild Life.
Episode 6: the wild life attacks
- Grian forgot to start the wildcard xD meanwhile the Tuff Guys and the Gs lied to each other how harrowing it was, and pretended to complain that they now had no free content and had to make their own, oh no the horror.
- Increasingly more dangerous mobs spawning in. That was surprisingly not as dangerous as feared – Scar thought so to such a degree that he explicitly went out at the end to cause more chaos because it was too calm.
- BigB – back in his Creaking skin and now on red – told Cleo he won't kill them and Cleo said they believe him!
- Etho with so many alliances xD
- Scar and Bdubs visited a trial chamber for the first time!
- Etho name-tagged a warden for fun, of course he did. And he can now make a shulker box! Cool.
- Skizz. *facepalm* What an unlucky accident. If only Grian had made that water one block bigger! Tango panicking afterwards was funny. As well as Grian immediately looking for new allies.
- Pearl and Gem this season, asldfkjsödl I really hope they get to do that 1v1 PVP duel! [Spoilers: they did not. Sad.]
- Etho and Bdubs! What is UP with them. Bdubs found out Etho killed his horse and goes all threatening "you have created something new", Etho said he only did it to toughen Bdubs up, Bdubs immediately going yeah that makes sense… Later, Etho saying he won't touch Bdubs' dog, Bdubs threatens him, Etho says Bdubs is tough enough for the moment. Twenty seconds later, "even Tango hates you!" And a few minutes later, Bdubs: "He's the worst enemy I've ever had."
- Bdubs saying he misses Mumbo, it was always so fun watching him die ^^
- Scar and Grian this episode were so lovely. They're buddies! They support each other!
Episode 7: Superpowers!
- Scar's title: "Riding my friends." xDD (He got a lot of flak on that on streams later but kept defending in, what else should he have called it? Mounting his friends? ^^ )
- All the powers are so perfect! Bdubs the master of sleep and time, ZombieCleo the necromancer, Martyn the Listener, Ren assuming different roles, Lizzie and her shadows, Joel JumpingBean, Deepfrost-icy Tango "flee with extra flee," BigB and the Creaking…
- Grian starting his episode talking to Mumbo and Skizz' graves!
- Grian: "this is a PVP series, stop having fun" xD And Scar is just like no we're here to have fun now we've decided.
- Grian after Scar punches him: "I thought we were friends!" all sad like. Luckily it was just for fun ^^
- The first mission Cleo gave her ghoul minions Mumbo and Skizz was to insult Grian xD He's excited to see them back and then that's how they greet him xD
- Mumbo got so many kills! Go Mumbo! Especially the kill on Grian was great.
- Scar also got several kills, kudos.
- Grian and Scar going on a "I can show you the world" flight! And Grian started the Disney song!
- Scar asks Grian what he wants him to do, and then sees that Grian wants Martyn dead and does not stop until he gets him.
- Grian calling Scar a passenger princess ^^
- Grian's failed superhero exit – and he would not have fallen if not for that ^^ Scar's reaction: Now you can kill people!
- Grian telling the zombie ghosts it's good to see them as soon as they don't belong to Cleo, Meanwhile Joel just stands there. Our idiot ^^
- Tango saying he never trusted Etho
- Martyn perma-died – and Grian is the one who brought him back as a zombie minion because he copied the ability! Oh man xD
- Etho chasing after Skizz and Skizz telling him he wishes he was better at the game xD
- The team effort to kill Tango ^^
- Tango and Skizz are partners in noodles ^^
- Gem about Joel: "that's _my_ idiot."
- Grian stealing Mumbo and Skizz and telling them he loved them so much he concocted this whole scheme to bring them back ^^
- Tango running in circles while people talk to him and Grian telling Mumbo this is what it's like talking to him ^^
- Grian killing Skizz when "his time with him is up" – a sense of fairness
- Mumbo killing Grian, the worst betrayal ^^ In Cleo's PoV I didn't even realize that it was Grian who got the kill on her, in revenge. "Why did you take Mumbo away from me ;_;" when Impulse teleported him away from Grian trying to kill him in revenge.
- After Mumbo killed Tango, Grian wondering why he couldn't do that while he was alive ^^ Then Mumbo gets another kill, on Joel, asks if that means he's back in the series, and Grian kills him a second later ^^
- Grian almost killing Jimmy and then deciding "no, not until next week"…
- Ren turning into Martyn right after Martyn went out of the series, confusing everyone, "is Martyn immortal?"
- Tango's superpower is Flee with extra Flee
- Grian turning into Bdubs to attack Tango is evil xD
- Etho being told by Bdubs, Tango, and Gem that he's a wuss.
- First thing Etho did when figuring out his superpower "come here Tango…" (I saw a theory that his mace doing so little damage was unintended, but iirc someone clarified on a stream later that it was on purpose because it would have been OP otherwise.)
- When Etho wonders what to do Bdubs suggests killing Tango, uhoh. And after that Tango says he was sad when he thought Bdubs attacked him ^^
Episode 8: Make it wild
I forgot to take notes for this one, which is also why this took so long. It was a lot of fun! As many suspected the finale had multiple wild cards at once (though most of them were watered down, the snails were slower etc.)., near the end even all of them at the same time. I really liked that at the very end there were no wildcards.
- Martren *facepalm* Those two are not normal about each other. Impulse said he didn't remember that stage of grief, Grian said he was not okay with this… ^^
- Cleo's meeting cliff notes for Etho: "Don't die. …and the snails are back." That was a nice brief interaction.
- Trivia bot this time asked about this season, which was cool. And the zombies were Skizz and Martyn this time, no Mumbo. And then more people later after more went out of the series… I think Cleo was the last one to summon them, half the server it felt like, and she sent them after Gem.
- Scar finished his rollercoaster! And didn't manage to kill a single person with it, but at least it worked.
- Scar planned to kill Etho but then decided against it because of his puppy dog eyes ^^
- Oh no Scar died to his snail! Snails and triviabot at the same time was mean tbf. So did BigB, and Etho though at least not his last life, and Impulse but his was invisible.
- "It was always gonna be like this, Jim" and Grian blowing up the Bambunker! He did say Jimmy was going to die by his hand :D And it was easier after Scar had died since Grian and Scar had a "very, quite firm allyship." [Afterwards on Twitter there was a poll if Grian still would have blown up the bunker if Scar had been in it, and Scar saw that and said on stream that Grian definitely would have ^^ )
- Etho was quite deadly that session! Nice kills on Gem (despite their alliance but the moment was just too good, as he said) and Scott (though that was an accident, he was aiming for Joel) and Impulse.
- The Tuff Guys reaffirmed their alliance at the beginning and then were the last full team to make it to the end, that was nice. Only for Tango to accidentally kill Bdubs and for both him and Etho to go out in very silly ways, yep that fits.
- Somehow Scott still managed to kill Joel ^^ and then died immediately afterwards. Pearl and Cleo met up afterwards and Cleo said she's lost without Scott somehow, and Pearl didn't know what to do after Impulse died. Later they ultimately decided to try and kill Joel, then to help Ren.
- I was very sad Pearl and Gem didn't get to have their final duel on red because Gem died to mobs, that was very unfortunate. (Gem didn't get a single kill this whole season actually, quite a contrast. She didn't try either tbf.)
- Joel's first win! Family really was the winning strategy. He deserved it, he did really well all season, and the big Joel chase was fun. Though I felt sorry for Grian, he was so frustrated with himself for dying from that fall from the tree ^^
That was Wild Life! It was fun and I enjoyed it a lot. I watched several PoVs for each session, it varied but maybe around half on average, and I'm sure I missed some funny moments and good videos but unlike when Secret Life came out I was working this time.
I also really enjoyed the Wild Life recap on the Imp & Skizz podcast with Grian. It answered important questions like "were the superpowers randomly assigned" (answer: not all of them) and gave nice behind the scenes insights. There was a much bigger team this time for all the data packs and mods and art etc., as already seen in Grian's credits. If there will be another season – which I think everyone wants, including Grian, but we'll see – I think it will be around the same time next year, not sooner.
