schneefinkI've barely scratched the surface of the massive MCYT AUfest Battleship works bounty, but I'll be leaving for a week-long vacation with my gf at my grandparents' tomorrow so here's part 1 of recs. 11x fic, 1x webweave, 3x comics/art; a wild mix of AUs and genres and pairings, mostly for Hermitcraft, some Life Series, DSMP, QSMP.

Life Series Hunger Games AU, Life Series
13k, Grian & various, Hunger Games AU, 4 finished fics
Summary:
Pt 1: It's Xisuma's job to make sure the games have an interesting finale. With these two final tributes, he doesn't need to do much.
Pt 2: Grian has won the hunger games. Now Pearl, his mentor, must prepare him for what that means.
(and hold his hand when he falls apart)
Pt 3: For Gem, it's an ordinary day at the market. It just so happens to also be the last day of the Hunger Games, and she can't help but stop to watch the last fight. After all, her district's tribute is still in the running.
Pt 3: Pearl isn't feeling well, so Oli (being the good friend and capital escort that he is) keeps her company while they watch the finale of this year's hunger games together.
Why I love it: "Outsider PoV" in the sense that they are all from outside the arena. Brutal and heartbreaking and infuriating and very well done.
Hypixel Hermit, Dream SMP/Hypixel/Hermitcraft

Summary: Technoblade stumbles into Hermitcraft and finds himself taken (only somewhat willingly) on a tour.
Why I love it: Fantastic character voices and exactly what I didn't know I wanted from a Techno on Hermitcraft fic.
The Mimic; or, Pounded in the Cloaca by the Foolish-Yet-Handsome Warlock Who Doesn't Know I'm His Patron, Hermitcraft

Summary: Grian, a powerful being from the Feywild, has come to the Material Plane in the form of a mortal -- a kenku paladin of mischief -- to look after an accident-prone warlock he has a pact with. But things are not going well. One of Grian's Feywild associates is trying to horn in on his territory and steal his warlock, and poor Grian can't even get said warlock to wear a shirt consistently, much less keep him alive.
Why I love it: Excellent character voices, I especially love not!kenku!Grian trying to figure out humans and doing the best he can with words he can borrow. Also hilarious, hot, sweet, and all around fantastic.

Summay: Howdy, y’all! Joe Hills here, recording as I always do from our community radio station. Welcome to Hermit Vale!
Why I love it: I could hear both Joe Hills and WtNV perfectly in my head while reading this. Very funny and excellent use of various Hermitcraft things/events.
A show, Hermitcraft
1.3k, Xisuma & various, admin Xisuma & Watchers AU inspired by it's a hollow play
Summary: Sometimes, being an admin means dealing with the watcher audiences who want a show. Sometimes, it means distracting them away from their desires for blood.
Why I love it: I love this AU and this is an excellent addition, fantastic tension and great combination of angst and sweet.
they say you gotta stay hungry, Hermitcraft
1.7k, Grian/Scar, vampire AU
Summary: Grian moved like a reptile when he wasn’t paying extra special attention to his body language. He leaned against alleyway walls, out of the splash zone of the neon signs that hung over the narrow shopping districts like bait hooks, eye-searing colors that blinked into bikini-clad women, spectral cats and lips open wide to show dripping red fangs– motionlessly, thoughtlessly calm. Thermal imagery would show him purple against a purple background, unless he was unlucky enough to be standing next to a grill or a running machine, but Grian was pretty clever, so he didn’t usually do things to draw down enforcers.
Not provable things, anyhow. Not anything that Scar couldn’t paper over with money in the right pocket or a word in the right ear, and business was positively booming tonight, tourists crashing into Club ConVex with glorious abandon, so Scar had plenty of both to go around.
Why I love it: Great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the bits of worldbuilding and backstory, the ways Grian has changed and is not human anymore, and Scar trying to coax him in.
While There's Still Something Left to Save, Hermitcraft

Summary: The previous admin died suddenly, and the world has been screaming out since in a wide series of endless and increasingly worse natural disasters.
False, Xisuma, and Cleo are going to try to do the ritual to bind a new admin.
Why I love it: Intriguing worldbuilding and wonderful teamwork while attempting a hail mary sex ritual in the face of a server collapse and also an extreme storm.

Why I love it: This is some good porn. Usually I'm too shy to rec porn but y'know what this is Battleship and whatever and good porn should be appreciated so fuck it. (also Grian.)

Summary: “Okay, but how are we going to do it?” FitMC sprawled in the co-pilot’s seat, one leg propped up on the dashboard. He was messing with a tangle toy, plastic coils wound between his fingers. “Federation Jewel’s well defended, those guards are gonna pounce as soon as two humans come in the door.”
“Shoot our way in, shoot our way out.” Phil was lying sideways across the other chair in the cockpit of this ship, back against one arm and his legs over the other.
Fit looked at him with his brows raised.
Phil grinned at him, unrepentant as always.
OR: two humans in alien space stage a heist.
Why I love it: Very fun heist in space – emotional support space orc human! The ending rounds it out nicely, too.

Summary: As the only omega left on the show right now, of fucking course the producers would want Quackity to do a heat arc. Unfortunately for their ratings, he's not exactly willing to play along.
Why I like it: Very good and, hm, economic? worldbuilding and good character voices and atmosphere.

Summary:The morning after Phil’s goddess calls to him is never as bad as Techno seems to think it is.
Maybe it is exactly because of how worried Techno always is, how much he fusses over him.
Or: a look at Phil and the inherent horror to be found in your patron goddess being in love with you.
Why I love it: Delicious angst, but also they have each other and that is very warm.

Why I like it: Cleo & BigB and being monstrous, love it and also the contrasting colors.

Summary: what started out as a test of bravery quickly turns into something much darker
Why I love it: Despite the summary, this is first hot and then funny (for the readers, at least ^^) I really like the poses and expressions and colors.

Summary: tango has a deadline. doc bothers him. sparks fly.
Why I like it: Very cool art, I especially enjoy their poses and contrasting expressions, and the intro text enhances it as well.

Summary: Crack concept.
Why I like it: Beautiful crack xD Their expressions are perfect.
