Wheee, a whole night of watching and talking about Doctor Who! With lots of dessert, because M. is fantastic that way. (Vanilla/white chocolate-muffins with apricot jam, so delicious.)

The Next Doctor: Hm, I thought this one was mediocre. At times it made too much fun of itself, and it didn't really achieve the sense of danger and creepiness DW often does so well. I don't have much to say about it.

Planet of the Dead: The flying alien rays who devour world and rip holes into the space-time-continuum are very cool! Well, apart from the "devour worlds and rip holes into space-time-continuum" thing. But I've always been a fan of rays.
To my surprise I liked UNIT here (fangirling the Doctor! "Did you just salute?" "No!", and the smitten scientist, awww.) I also came to like Christina, though contrary to L. and A. I don't think she would make a good companion: companions sometimes need to rein in the Doctor, and I think she wouldn't. Nice episode.

The Waters of Mars: Oooh, more about how Time works! Fascinating. So the only "fixed" part was Adelaide's death, that's why the survival of her crew members didn't change anything? Because I agree with her there, arbitrarily classifying some people as important and others not... I really like the "Doctor has a power trip" idea! It fits neatly into that he needs his Companions to anchor him, but he hasn't had one since he lost Donna. A. pointed out that how the Doctor acts at the end of the episode is reminiscent of the Master. I liked how Adelaide pointed out that the Doctor has way too much power.
This is a good example of how DW does dangerous and creepy! I wonder if we're going to see Mars (and perhaps the thing that was buried underground?) again.
At this point I think Ten has so many issues that he needs decades of therapy at least, even if he finds someone suited to be his therapy (ahahaha!) and even that might not be enough.

The End of Time 1: I'm doing these two separately because there's just so much. First, we get the Master back! And the Ood, great (though I don't think they explained what is accelerating their progress? I hope it'll be picked up later.) It was good to see the Master's wife again, I thought they'd forgotten about her. So now we have zombie!Master who flies and shoots electricity and occasionally has a skull, creepy (but also a bit hilarious.) The Doctor/Master dynamic here was great.
Wilf and his silver cloak *g*
I was very surprised that they mentioned President Obama, since I don't think they ever mentioned real politicians before. Huh. I don't think I like it.
The Master race! Nice twist. The pink dress suits him *g* A. wondered about people who were having sex at that time - I'm sure there must be fic somewhere ^^
The Time Lords, wow, I didn't see that coming at all.

The End of Time 2: The Time Lords are bastards. As if the Doctor taking the gun after hearing that they're coming wasn't proof of that, we also find out that they're responsible for the drum signal the Master hears. Ouch. And they only did that because the Doctor initiated the timelock... I have to watch it again so I get all the details.
Donna! So the Doctor gave her defenses, and when she wakes up again she still doesn't remember but she's not at risk anymore? What? Then why didn't he do that in the first place? It's good to see her happy.
To be honest I still don't know exactly who the woman was who spoke to Wilf - a Time Lady who doesn't agree with the President? But how did she send a signal through the timelock?
The Doctor and the Master, I love how they fit together, in a way. The scene where the Doctor can't decide who to shoot, and later the Master saves him (coincidentally) and enters the timelock, well done.
And then Wilf - I knew these cells were going to become a plot point like this! Ten is great here.
The goodbye scenes felt very long. I didn't like the one with Martha - she still needs the Doctor to save her?, the ones with Sarah Jane and Wilf were okay, the only one I really liked was the one with Jack. With the others the Doctor standing there and leaving felt almost artificially tragic and dramatic, but it fits those two. I don't know why he didn't visit Joan, only her granddaughter. The scene with Rose was nice, too.
"I don't want to go" - ouch! Ten definitely didn't have a good ending. The Stolen Earth/Journey's End affected him very badly and he didn't recover, and it would have taken him a very long time of rest and happiness to recover that he was very unlikely to find. So for the Doctor, regenerating might have been a good thing. Of course in the same episode he tells Wilf that regenerating is like dying - contrary to what he tells Rose after Nine regenerates, which I interpret as another sign of his much more negative attitude.
Doctor Who is such a huge fandom that I'm sure I could find dozens of episode reviews and/or episode tags, but I don't want to. At the moment I'd rather watch the show on my own before I get too influenced by other people's opinions.

The Eleventh Hour: I was a bit impatient when we watched this episode, at least that's what the others kept telling me. Whenever I asked about things that didn't make sense they told me that it'll be explained later ("later" apparently being "the end of the season", for example why a little girl lived all on her own and even cooked for herself.)
For a moment I thought Amy was a police officer, that would have been so cool! And something different. Oh well. Prisoner Zero was creepy, less in the episode and more if you consider that Amy lived with them for twelve years.
Yay for smart!Doctor! But why didn't the conference call include UNIT, and why didn't he include UNIT and/or introduce himself as the Doctor?
His confrontation with the Atraxi was cool - it reminded me of "I'm the Doctor. Look me up."
Amy, you know how good he is with being punctual, why oh why do you believe him when he says he'll be back tomorrow? Don't you at least have a phone?
I'm not yet convinced by the new opening, but the music is fantastic.

After that I almost immediately watched Tenth Doctor: The Musical, which is simply amazing.
Other DW vids I know are Handlebars, Marble House, and Everything's Not Lost. Now I can finally watch all vids about Ten! Do you have any favorites? Recs are very welcome :D
