So that is 22 in total! 17 of those for Battleships, MCYT AUfest and multifandom respectively. 33.5k words in total, very happy with that. None of them particularly polished but that also helped with actually posting things; I like some more than others (the recursive fics, the Pyre fusion etc.) but overall I am happy with them. (I did not expect my most popular work would be explicit f/f dubcon but there we go ^^ )
I kept up the monthly rec posts again, go me. And I also tried my best to leave comments on fanworks I enjoyed and long comments on fanworks I loved, though I wish I could have done better with that.
I read a lot more books this year than last year, some of them I enjoyed a lot like He Who Drowned the World, and I even read some non-SFF and non-fiction books for a change. I didn't watch a lot of TV, but I did enjoy Murderbot; and I only watched a couple of movies, but I enjoyed e.g. A Minecraft Movie and Pride and Kpop Demon Hunters.
I fulfilled my goal of playing more different games: I played and enjoyed Astalon: Tears of the Earth, Iron Diamond, Islets, some Beat Saber, and then of course a lot of Hollow Knight: Silksong which was fantastic. And I know I'm not done with it yet, I already look forward to the DLCs. I have a Hollow Knight nook in my room now with art I got from VIECC and two Hornet figures I got from my gf and it makes me happy.
Speaking of VIECC, I went with friends in a very basic Etho cosplay, that was fun.
Like last year, most of what I watched was MCYT. Hermitcraft was my main fandom this year, followed by the Life Series, I watched many videos and streams. (Though that is not that apparent from my DW: I don't talk about these fandoms that much here, also because they're harder to keep up with maybe?, I keep thinking I could change that maybe.) I got some more merch that makes me happy whenever I wear it or look at it in my room (like the Secret Life desk mat) or at work. I also still watched the occasional MCC and some other Minecraft-related videos either by Hermits or others, like some Vampires SMP and some speedrunning.
I'm most active on Dreamwidth (though I post less than I would like to) but also quite a bit on Tumblr (though it feels less active because I mostly reblog instead of using words), and I still lurk on Twitter quite a bit and visit Reddit sometimes. I spent a lot more time on Discord servers this year.
Non-fannish things:
Two major things happened this year.
One: I got a girlfriend! (This paragraph is the reason why this took months btw but at this point I will keep it short and call it good enough.) I met my gf on an app in early January and we got together not long after, on the last day of January. We had eight fantastic months together – and then three more difficult ones but we still tried to make it work. [Looking ahead: we broke up in mid-March of this year, but I don't regret not doing it sooner.]
This was my first longer romantic relationship, with many firsts involved, I learned a lot.
Two: I wrote and passed three of the exams necessary to become a tax advisor \o/ Three in one year was very stressful, I'm so relieved I passed all of them. Halfway there! Next year I'm planning to write two, and then the last one the year after. Definitely doable.
Only two exams and the corresponding classes etc. also means I won't need to do as much overtime, which is nice. Overall work has been fine this year, with some frustrating and/or stressful things and some things that made me feel accomplished.
I barely got any exercise, which isn't great. I need to find something that I enjoy and, importantly, that is also convenient for me, because otherwise I'm very unlikely to stick with it.
I also didn't cook very often, because cooking only for myself is still not very interesting and much less rewarding.
I was very happy with my new living/work room at home, especially after I got a couch, too, and a nice dragon blanket to put on top of it.
I didn't travel much this year because I didn't have much vacation time left, but I visited my grandparents for a week with my gf, that was very nice. My family is doing well overall, thankfully.
My TTRPG group temporarily lost a member to a year-long stay abroad, so we switched campaigns and are now playing in a sci-fi setting. I enjoy the new campaign a lot! Sadly, due to scheduling problems, we only managed to play once a month on average. But in between we sometimes meet up for other things, like karaoke, which is nice, too.
As for the wider world, many things happened that made it a struggle not to become pessimistic, but I'm trying my best. Sometimes I have to try and ignore it for a while. …yeah also not really sure what to say about this part.
Looking ahead to 2026 (now almost 1/4 over), some goals: passing the two exams, doing more sports, cooking more, meeting often with friends; keep commenting and writing and posting and reading and playing. Not really in the mood for goals tbh.
But I definitely want to keep being active here. Very thankful for this space and the people here. I wish you all the best, in general and for this current year in particular.
