March recs: 11 MCYT Battleship works

schneefinkI've only begun to read through the massive MCYT Battleship collection (all ages collection, 18+ collection) and new works are still being posted. And I got wonderful gifts! (Separate post for these later.)
Some early recs in late March: 3 art pieces and 8 fics, mostly Hermitcraft/Life Series but also Emduo, Vampires SMP, and MCSR RPF.
Worldhopper, Hermitcraft/Life Series/Empires/VBRPF
Art, Gem-centric
Summary: oops all geminitay! a digital spread of the many lives of gem :)
Why I love it: This is incredible. Nine different Gems, all in different lives with different outfits and worlds, and they all look fantastic.
Holding You Tight, Hermitcraft
Art, Scar/Grian, naga!Scar
Summary: Grian gets a little turned around during one of his research expeditions and becomes a glorified teddy bear for a clingy danger noodle <333
Why I like it: Aww, Scar is delighted by what he caught :)
The Orc and the Elf, SMPEart/DreamSMP
Art, Techno & Philza
Summary: Technoblade and Philza as they would be in Dungeon Meshi!
Why I like it: They look great, especially orc!Techno.
Game, Set: Restart, Life Series
4.3k, Homestuck AU
Summary: "You promised me a favor for my birthday, and I demand retribudation."
"Scar, that's not a word," Grian said on the other end of the call, his voice tinny in Scar's headset. He was amazed he had phone service at all— in his free hand that wasn't stroking Jellie's fur, he was thumbing through his Pester-feed. There were weather alerts, strange photos of the sky where arcs of green and purple light flashed, and the front leading edge of ominous, dark clouds, built like mountains in the sky.
'#apocalypse lol' were some of the posts. Others were convinced it was a government conspiracy. '#spring break, #conspiracy, #chemtrails'.
Scar was more concerned with the fact that it was a global phenomenon, hitting what looked to be sixteen points throughout the globe at once.
Oh well. Nothing he could do about it— and while he still had internet, he wanted to play this game.
"It could be a word! You don't know that, you'd have to check a dictionary— which you won't, because you're going to play a game with me!"
"I already told Jimmy I'd play with him Scar."
"Well it's not that blonde floozy's birthday now is it?"
Why I like it: Homestuck AU! Well done and a lot of fun, with many great details.

Summary: "I'm so glad you agree, Bdubs." Scar swishes past, not waiting for a reply.
He has busy, busy mayoral duties to attend to, after all.
Cub waits quietly by Scar's throne, as always. A pat on the head for him, before Scar gets to polishing his throne. After all, he can't be caught with it looking any less than its best!

Why I like it: A beautiful tragedy with great imagery.

Summary: Grian is introduced to the wonders contained on Archive of Our Own. Cub has zero ulterior motives for this.
Why I like it: In-Universe RPF! Yes it is also a clever way to hit a lot of AU tags but also very funny.

0.6k, Cleo & Martyn, modern AU
Summary: CLEO ZOMBEE: Our once-happy marriage, destroyed by betrayal.
MARTYN LITTLEWOOD: Betrayal and excellent Wi-Fi.
A transcript of the divorce case conference between Cleo Zombee and Martyn Littlewood.
Why I like it: Very funny and very them.

Summary: A word to the wise: I don’t know how the soundproofing was at your last place, but they’ve skimped a bit here. It’s not paper thin, but I’d suggest closing the bedroom window before you get too into your personal business. The rest of the building will thank you, as will I.

Why I like it: Very nice, made me smile a lot.

Summary: “Fledgelings are… at best, they’re vulnerable to suggestion. You saw what Pyro was like, and Scott was hardly trying. Abolish had training as a human to resist enthrallment, but that only does so much against compulsion, especially if…”
Cleo trails off, the strategies that might break a person well known to both of them.
(Or: Abolish is captured and used as a weapon. Legundo gets him back.)
Why I like it: Delicious hurt/comfort (emphasis on the h.)
Uncharted Waters, MCSR RPF
3.2k, Feinberg/Infume
Summary: Infume’s eyes are wide, and his mouth is open slightly as he stares at his screen like there’s more there than just the home page of Fein’s ranked instance. His cheeks are flushed pink. His knee is still propped up by his chest, scraggly pinpricks of light brown hair spotlit by the bright light of his monitor.
That curve of pale skin is where Fein’s gaze focuses, only partly because it’s easier than looking at Infume’s face.
Why I like it: I love the way Fein's mind works here, analyzing and adjusting and with so many speedrunning-related metaphors, and how the situation develops.
