Various procrastination things

"The Bells of St. John" was mostly a nice episode, and so far I really like Clara (yay for active companions!), but the best part was meeting with geeky friends and having a great evening together. M. made snowmen and Dalek cookies, because M. is the best. She's also writing a piano exercise book for small children that is full of games. Then we discussed Doctor Who in general, other fandoms with usually three people talking and one listening in an amused "I don't know what you're talking about but it sounds sort of familiar" way, watched some fanvids, bemoaned our lack of free time and/or motivation to actually do work, and in general had a great time. Trying to explain the appeal of Homestuck to the uninitiated is fun.
I can pinpoint the episode where I started to lose interest in the Lizzie Bennet Diaries: 85 of 100, which is a good percentage overall but by the end I just sort of ran out of enthusiasm. I found especially Lydia's, but also Lizzie's reactions from that point on frequently over the top and/or hard to watch because the fourth wall was becoming more noticeable in bad ways. There were several things they did really well, like Charlotte, but overall my feelings changed from "amazing" to "good, and I'd probably recommend it to people but only with caveats."
In the past I've told myself that I'm not "in" a fandom if I just lurk, but I've probably long passed that point in hockey fandom. It's weird, this combination of sports fandom, which I'm unfamiliar with, and RPF fandom, which I'm also mostly unfamiliar with. A large part of the fandom is on Tumblr, but another is still on Lj, and somehow all of it feels very fragmented and, hm, fragile? Like there are hills and cracks of past badly hidden wanks and animosities and cliques everywhere and you have to tread very carefully if you want to get involved. Which I don't, I'm trying to talk myself out of it, without success so far but things can change quickly. And maybe that's just my perception, but it's interesting to compare how fandoms "feel", at least to me. (Also I like the stargate anonmeme better than the hockey anonmeme, and not only because of the cupcakes.)
That said, why are most NHL games at 1am, argh, I need to sleep, my sleep schedule is already bad enough.
Originally I didn't want to get a Tumblr account because I said I don't need another time sink, but at this point I'm spending so much time catching up on Tumblrs individually that getting an account would probably save time. I still can't decide on a user name, but I heard it's not so difficult to change, so one of these days I'll probably just pick a random one. So many pretty pictures.
And for complete randomness, I should be writing my sga reversebang instead of werewolf!Gretel, but writing without plotting so much is fun. I'll see what happens.
Ugh, stop procrastinating, self, and get back to work, you are hopeless.
