I fell in love with a new show! I want to finish watching all the episodes instead of writing about why I love it. But I should probably pause at least this evening because a) it's late, b) to let things settle a bit: I just finished season two, so it's probably a good point for that. So here are some reasons why "Lost Girl" is fantastic.

I love Bo, she's amazing. She's kind, impulsive, loyal, and brave. She's not always the smartest, and she especially doesn't like to think about politics and long-term background consequences, but she'll always try to do what's right. She's openly bisexual and completely unashamed about it, she loves having sex (once she figures out how not to kill her partners) and she craves close contact and a family. Sure, she's a succubus and she's beautiful, but I completely get why most people who meet her are so fascinated by her.

And Kenzi! Bo and Kenzi are the best sisters. They fit so well together, they need each other and help each other, and they always choose each other over everyone else. Kenzi is, well, Kenzi: very energetic, sometimes a bit weird, easily hurt but brave, very loyal, with a slightly different set of morals but fundamentally a good person. She owes a huge favor to the Morrigan and was hit by something when she attacked the Norn, who hates her, so I think there might be trouble coming for her...

I normally don't like love triangles but both Dyson and Lauren are great, and I liked how their relationships with Bo developed over the two seasons. Both their partners were recently fridged, unfortunately; we hardly knew Nadia but Ciara was great and I wish she'd survived. (Oh well, she's a fairy, very easy to make her survive in fic.) Right now Dyson is back in love with Bo but she has no idea, and Lauren rediscovers her feelings for Bo after Nadia's death, so it'll be interesting how that develops. (Polyamory is a thing! Please!)

I like Trick, and also Hale. I'm happy we got a bit more Hale this season, but I still want more. I liked Lachlan and Ryan, eventually: they showed very well that it's not as easy as Light = good and Dark = bad. I liked Bo's relationships with them: her constant struggle about whether or not to trust Lachlan (she made the wrong decision in the end, but can you blame her?) and her brief affair with Ryan, that tellingly started when most of her friends were out of town/busy and then she "didn't like that she liked him" but found it hard to break it off, it seemed very natural for her to look for some connection.

I like the world: it's messy, with a lot of elements pulled from very different backgrounds and pierced together in different ways, but somehow it mostly fits. The set design is also nice, and the clothes are great. And have I mentioned that Bo is hot? So is almost everyone else.

The plots are always decent and sometimes very good, and there's always a lot of personal stuff in there. The season finales have been a bit underwhelming, but still okay.

I'm really looking forward to s3, and then to the fic (hopefully plenty and good!), and then s4, starting in November. I hope I won't be disappointed by future episodes, but I'm optimistic :)

Why you should watch Lost Girl: Great characters, including a fantastic female bisexual main character and her BFF sidekick and the group of friends/family they find themselves; cool creatures and supernatural things; a good mix of action, not-overly-stupid plots, humor, warmth, and romance. I don't remember how quickly it grabbed me completely, but I never had to convince myself to watch one more episode, rather the other way around.
(Too late for another one today. Damn it. Oh well, there's still tomorrow. ;) )

Hm, that sounds good. I'm putting that show on my must-check-out-sometime list, along with Warehouse 13 and The Good Wife.

Lost Girl is a fun show - sometimes the silly is a bit too much, but mostly I'm enjoying it. Kenzi is such a hoot, her snarking and fashion choices alone can keep me easily entertained for 45min. As can Dyson's six-pack (although I'm still weireded out that he's named after a vacuum cleaner that is being sold with the slogan 'The Cylone that doesn't loose suction').

Haha, I never thought of the unfortunate name connection. I'll try to keep it that way.
