Stuff on a weekend

schneefinkI didn't have a good day, so I'm making a post about some random things because it feels like interacting with people and that's good.
- Friday was the Debate Club Christmas Party, and it was fantastic. About 30 people, 35 liters of punch, christmas cookies, a Christmas-themed quiz, riddles, and just talking until 3am, it was great. I got to know a lot of the debating newbies that I didn't know well yet because I didn't go to many trainings this semester yet, but they're all very nice and interesting.
- The week went okay, so to celebrate, and because I really wanted it, I bought myself "Hyperbole and a Half" by Allie Brosh. It's a great book, I definitely recommend it, but it also deals very honestly with depression and some of that hurt.
Huh, that might be one reason why I'm feeling down today, come to think of it.
I'm trying to get my mom to read it, probably with a note that says "some of that is very accurate, but don't worry it's not that bad, but I don't want to discuss it with you", not sure how helpful that will be for her...
- I'm currently thinking about a story that I'd love to write, but I'm not sure I can do it justice. It'd help if I had an idea what the actual plot would be, I only have so many loose snippets... But I really want to write it. Maybe next year. I didn't write much this year, partly because of that same problem and partly because I was between fandoms, but I think I'm finally at the point where I'm confident enough to write hockey RPF.
Btw, my first hockey fic will be published in early January. No promises, but would anyone be interested in a short "so you know nothing about hockey, these are the Penguins" primer? Strangely enough I haven't seen a Penguins primer around, only some for Sid and Geno.
- Speaking of hockey, this comic is almost accurate to how I feel about suddenly loving it: Hockey & I by Molly Brooks. Except with more slash fic in the beginning.
- Studying I should be doing: way too much. And job applications, and Christmas presents. But I'm currently mostly on top of OTW and school debating stuff! Yeah, I know, priorities. They're hard.
- I want to go see the Hobbit 2 and Catching Fire next week, but I also have a ton of other stuff to do. *looks at calendar* *gulps* More than I thought, even. So I'll see.
- In the last two weeks or so I've at least mostly managed to go to bed at a normal time on bad days instead of staying up until 3am. Progress?

Idk, it'd probably be a longer project because there's a lot, but maybe by the trade deadline? And I want to include some non-players, too, the coaches etc.

YES, ICON. I guess that's self-make-able, but I have always relied on other, more fabulous icon makers. HMMM.
