I'm having the old "I know I should do X and I was honestly planning to but then my mom told me to do it and now I don't want to anymore" problem. It's like she always manages to add that extra sentence or word to sound so patronizing that all my defenses go up.
I'm planning to move out sometime this semester, but I'm really not forward to looking for a place.

Every time I feel new characters getting into my head I'm afraid to "lose" the ones that are already there. Not the ones that have been there forever, just the newer ones. Depending how clear they were, their voice, motivations, bodies etc. One or two of the very old ones are like old friends, some others are pale but come back without much difficulty, and the ones that are currently most vivid are the ones that I play with, explore, create stories with and sometimes even write them down. At the moment it seems to me like I have more of the latter category than I could manage to keep active before, and I like it. It's a bit like the inside of my head became more populated and multi-dimensional.

Interesting! For me it's sometimes harder to keep the new ones around. Although I got a couple of new characters that I'd like to explore, but alone isn't as much fun, sigh. I want a new writing partner.

I know that feeling. It's one reason I watch very little tv beyond my fave show/reruns of my fave show. My brain very rarely handles more than one set of favorite characters at the same time. Though more recently it's been able to branch out more, so for example I can fit Natasha and Clint in there, plus the Agents of Shield characters, plus some of Renner's character from other canons. Plus my eternal favourites from BtVS/AtS.

But I think I've reached maximum capacity for love atm. :)

It takes a certain amount of investment/time/energy for characters to stick in my head for more than a few days anyway, and I often don't know which are going to stay. Sometimes comes with surprising moments of "huh, you're still in here..."

When I don't have space for new characters I think I also tend to look for less new canon sources, so I don't get too overwhelmed.
Now what I'd like is to get my thoughts in sufficient order to actually write more fic... one step at a time ;)
