My calendar this week is full of small stuff so inconveniently timed that it feels like I don't have time to do anything. (I usually can't get any productive studying done if I know I have less than at least two mostly uninterrupted hours.) Thursday-Saturday I'm visiting my relatives for a wedding, which I look forward to but it also feels like I really can't afford to lose the days. I'm so behind on my studies! I'm very stressed about - well, things in general, I hate it.
Choir practice today: I looove the pieces we're singing, it's going to be a beautiful concert. The topic is love, and we're singing songs by Brahms, Carl Orff, Whitacre, Herwig Reiter, Stefan Kalmer (he did the wonderful Shakespeare songs we sung two years ago), the Beatles, and a few more composers my mother knows.
I'm very annoyed by those people who apparently think it's completely okay to constantly text during practice, even when they're supposed to sing - wtf are you doing.
I'm almost finished writing my Yuletide letter! I'm excited.
LK is going on vacation for three weeks (I got the recipe for his scrambled eggs and salad just in time), so today we took the last opportunity for a while and watched some more Bab5.
"Revelations": Revelations indeed! Delenn is part-human now, what? And how? The cocoon transformation seemed to be something very rare, but known to the Minbari - but not in detail, as Delenn and Lennier didn't know exactly what to expect. Is it possible with different sorts of modifications, i.e. could she have became half-Narn? And what does this mean?
Garibaldi! AV and I cheered when Dr. Franklin mentioned the alien medical device and LK laughed a lot. And they caught the guy who shot him, but he got away. It's basically confirmed that President Clark is corrupt, and the Psi-Corps conspiracy theory seems pretty likely, uh-oh...
So Sheridan is a widower. I'm relieved the "it was my fault (and for stupid reasons)" thing was done away with in this episode. No guesses as to where his wife's expedition was going and who destroyed their ship.
Poor G'kar! At least Na'toth believes him (I think? I don't think she explicitly said?) And at least someone starts to get a clue.
AV and I speculated about why the Shadows chose Molari instead of G'kar, so we rewatched the relevant parts of "Signs and Portents." G'kar, when asked what he wants, talks about the destruction of the Centauri and says he doesn't know what would come next. Molari talks about recreating their empire. The Narn's goal is limited in scope, the Centauri's isn't.
We also wondered how G'kar would act in Londo's situation, and we both think he would be much less easy to use: he's paranoid in a slightly different way, and he's at least heard of the Shadows via myths.
"The Geometry of Shadows": Techno mages! Very cool! I hope and I'm relatively confident that they'll be back. "Equation spells," heh.
Nooo, Londo :( At least he was made to apologize for one stupid thing, let's just hope that Elric's warning helps a bit...
I find it very interesting that Vir seems so unhappy with Londo's current actions, I'm curious to see where that goes.
Ivanova to get a promotion! She more than deserves it, I just want her to stay on the station. I hope that's what she wants, too! (If she's eligible, weird that Sinclair never did that, and Sheridan on his first day - won't that look strange?)
The Drazi conflict, wow. A very egalitarian society, I guess? Purple and green, completely arbitrary. (I saw a gif set of that one scene on Tumblr and always wondered what that was about.) Susan mostly handled it well (except when she got impatient, in her defense the Drazi were being very stupid and then people were dying.) "Rules of combat older than contact with other races, do not mention aliens. Rules change... caught up in committee. *wince* Not come through yet." Heh! (The larger implication for their society of the sides now being willing to kill each other is not pretty.)
And yes, Garibaldi, you're a great person for the job, and you're paranoid and compulsive. I liked seeing that apart from that asshole traitor the other security people like him (cake, even!)
Wow do I always have a lot to say about episodes. This show is just very good.

Date: 2014-10-21 12:00 am (UTC)You and I are in about the same place on B5! It's just I haven't watched an ep since 2013. It got all suspenseful, and it wasn't relaxing anymore. This keeps happening to me. When I get invested in things, then I don't want to watch them!

Date: 2014-10-21 09:16 am (UTC)That sounds like it would make it complicated to finish things! I usually want reassurance that there's a happy or at least not a tragic ending, plus people to vent to.
