schneefink: River walking among trees, from "Safe" (Fleury)
Months ago I asked [archiveofourown.org profile] araline for a writing prompt to distract myself from hockey stress. She gave me "Sid is secretly an alien and his parents want to take him back." I meant to write a short snippet.

Home Is Where My Rink Is (6256 words) by schneefink
Fandom: Hockey RPF
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Sidney Crosby, Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins Ensemble
Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Aliens
Summary: Sid always knew that his parents wanted him to return to his home planet. He'd hoped it wouldn't be so soon.

I'm not completely happy with it, but it's finished, and some parts I like a lot. Plus, it was an excuse to write about Sid&Flower, BFFs.

I also recently wrote a kinkmeme fill that I forgot to announce here, just something short and quick that made my id happy:

Captain's Mark (562 words) by schneefink
Fandom: Hockey RPF
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Sidney Crosby, Marc-Andre Fleury
Additional Tags: Possessive Behavior, Tattoos
Summary: The team became completely and irrevocably his the moment they gave him the C.

The NHL draft is on Friday&Saturday. I'm nervous that the Penguins will do something stupid, like give up some of our top prospects for a too expensive older winger. There are rumors they are after Kessel or Sharp, both of which don't seem like good ideas... Of course I don't know more than the GMs whose job it is to think about these things, but sometimes their decisions seem really obviously bad. (I'm not talking about Despres for Lovejoy - fans should get over that one imo - but things like the Scuderi signing.)
In general I'm more nervous about bad hockey trades than I was about pretty much any fictional canon I was a fan of screwing up. Probably because it's not that difficult to ignore/handwave fictional canon, but hard to do so with a RL team, and one bad trade can screw up a team for years. (I feel so sorry for Caps fans about Forsberg.)

In non-hockey news I donated blood today and it was quicker and easier than anytime before, that was nice. I like donating blood, makes me feel like I do something good. And I was told I have pretty veins.

I had a moderately successful day studying at uni, always good. Tomorrow I have to get up early :( and we're going to buy our kitchen :)
