Professor Bernhardi
Dec. 28th, 2017 11:51 pmBefore I forget: I signed up for
fandom_stocking, mine is here. Fandom_stocking always feels a bit strange when I do it (I'm just sort of… asking? for presents?), but I look forward to filling other people's stockings so clearly I'm just being weird about it.
I went to the theater today, and clearly I learned nothing from last time. After last time I decided not to go to a theater again without checking out the play beforehand, so of course when my mom asked I did just that. We went to see Arthur Schnitzler's "Professor Bernhardi," written in 1912 but the contents are very modern: anti-semitism, hypocrisy in all forms (especially with regards to careers, politics, and the church), and personal ethics vs. greater good. It was depressing just how plausible it all seemed even today, maybe with minor variations but still. The play was very good, and again I'd forgotten how intense live theater feels. I want to go more often, but definitely check out the plays beforehand so I'm at least prepared.
Und wo ich grad bei Scheinheiligkeit und Kirche bin, #PoschardtEvangelium hat mir gut gefallen: Parodie manch heutiger "Christen".
