Our current D&D campaign is now over two years old and 87 sessions long and only getting better. We always had roleplay elements, of course, but it was difficult especially at first because most of our characters woke up with no memories or backstory, so we first had to develop their characters before figuring out how they relate to each other. For a long time a lot of our roleplay was around NPCs. My character developed one actual friendship with another party member, but then that character died. But by now, after two years, we finally have more inter-party roleplaying and I love it.

Things that happened since my last update:
- Rose is very angry that we created a second Pelor, who wants to kill the first one but seems to be just as much of an evil asshole. Fair. We're all grounded.

- We were sent to observe and saw the goddess Ehlonna fight and kill our common enemy, the goddess Yondalla. We were meant to kill the survivor, and instead of fighting her our rogue had a better idea and talked her into suicide, it was amazing.

- Our rogue unfortunately pointed out to our goddess Rose that he's the only party member without a personal stake in our mission, so she forced him into a betrothal. To pick a bride there was a ball, and we thought it would be boring but actually it turned out to be a ton of fun. The woman he chose is Rose's adoptive daughter, a shapeshifter, and an alchemist, and we all like her, even he.

- The surviving four disciples of the evil fiend of possession are now hunting our party, and not only are they powerful storm giant were-rocs, as soon as we kill one they are resurrected pretty much immediately, which is very annoying.

- Our cleric, a saint of Rose but follower of Kord, finally met Kord and became his saint. To meet Kord she had to leave the outpost, which Rose explicitly forbid, but the cleric convinced my character to take her anyway.

- Soo last session, when we returned to the outpost, Rose distributed punishment. She got Kord to order our cleric to follow her orders, and then she ordered our cleric to whip MC. (And the sorcerer, who lied to her general. Which seemed over the top and our sorcerer is very unhappy and considering desertion.) Our cleric feels very guilty, and my character, who was pretty much the only one of our party who still had a ton of respect for Rose, lost that respect for her.

We're walking a fine line now. It would be a huge risk and danger for us not to work together with Rose, let alone oppose her, but power has changed her, and one day we might not have a choice… For now, there are still the fiend's disciples we need to deal with, and then Heironeous and Pelor and fake!Pelor. At least Heironeous is insane and lost most of his followers. And then we'll see what else our DM will come up with… It feels like we're in the last quarter of a really good book, I really want to know how it ends and that it has a great ending but at the same time I don't want it to end.

Our DM has joked about turning our campaign into books, and I was also joking but then I accidentally divided our campaign plot into arcs for "books" (works surprisingly well!) and started thinking along the lines of which side stories and characters should be cut or their role expanded in a book adaption, and I really want to read this now. Ugh.

(Also I think I'm developing a crush on our cleric's player. I'm not used to that, it happens so rarely. Suddenly I'm second-guessing myself every time I touch her (she's sitting next to me! There are emotional RP moments! But I can't remember how often I used to touch her and I don't want it to be weird. Ah well, she still voluntarily sits next to me so it's not too weird yet.))

Awww, it's so much fun when you've got a game going that feels like an epic book! Too bad you can't just... pour the contents out of your head into words without having to do all of that pesky typing.

And crushing on people in your group! It's always weird when you don't know if it's because of the intense RP emotion or the personal chemistry? But as long as you're having fun and not feeling too weird, it sounds like a good thing. <3
