HP AU WIP recs

I'm a big fan of Harry Potter AUs – not always because they're very good, though many are, but because they're generally entertaining. I'm following a number of HP AU WIPs (sometimes it even takes me a moment to remember which is which, especially since several of them are currently in the same year.) Here are some of them; I don't usually rec WIPs, but most of these update semi-regularly.

Long schoolyear stories:

Summary: In the middle of their second year, Draco and Harry discover they're soulmates and do their best to keep it a secret from everyone.
Their best isn't perfect.

Currently in year 5.
Why I like it: I will read anything Shana writes and she hasn't disappointed me yet. This one is a lot of fun, with great worldbuilding details and ideas and wonderful friendships and relationships.

A Very Slytherin Harry series, by geoffaree
412k, mostly gen, Slytherin!Harry AU, updates weekly
Summary: Harry has a pet snake, gets sorted into Slytherin, and is adopted by Snape.
Currently in year 4.
Why I like it: Harry makes friends and finds himself a father figure. This one has plot too but overall it is warm and I enjoy it.

Sarcasm and Slytherin series, by sunmoonandstars
530k, mostly gen, Slytherin!Harry, Harry has a twin AU, updates on average every 2 weeks or so
Summary: After ten years of misery with the Dursleys, Harry Potter learns that he has magic. Except, in this story, it's not a surprise-the only surprise is that there are others like him. Including his twin brother, Julian Potter, the savior of the Wizarding world.
This isn't the Harry you think you know.
Currently in year 5.
Why I like it: Disclaimer, this has plenty of character bashing, and includes a lot of wizard nobility fanon. I like Harry and his friends though and the plot adaptions.

Perfectly Normal series, by BrilliantLady

Summary: Harry just wants to have a quiet life and get along with everyone. He wants to be normal, and accepted. Being “normal” for the Dursleys yielded great results in improving his standard of living, and as he heads off to Hogwarts he still retains that impulse to keep his head down and blend in. Of course, life isn’t as simple as that, and Harry is a magnet for trouble. And what does "normal" really mean, anyway? The pure-bloods in his group of friends think he should learn more about their culture and religion if he wants to fit in.
Currently in year 4.
Why I like it: I like this Harry, who wants to become a healer and hates all the fuss around him, but unfortunately gets caught up in things.

Creatively Maladjusted series, by elumish
86k, gen, Slytherin!Harry, updates irregularly but on average about monthly
Summary: Harry gets sorted into Slytherin, but also makes friends in other Houses.
Currently in year 2.
Why I like it: Another Slytherin!Harry AU, not spectacularly outstanding yet but fun and it looks like there will be a lot of focus on politics, which I like.

Choices series, by Lomonaaeren
214k, gen, Slytherin!Harry, updates weekly
Summary: A series of gen fics, starting with an AU of the end of Chamber of Secrets, where Harry is re-sorted into Slytherin by the Sorting Hat when it falls on his head in the Chamber of Secrets.
Currently in year 4.
Why I like it: Warning for character bashing, but I like the friendships and power plays and enjoy the story.
Another nice HP AU WIP by the same author is the Children of the Sun series (83k, gen) where wizards have familiars and Harry's is especially powerful and he plans to change the entire wizarding social order.

Rigel Black series, by murkybluematter (link goes to first fic)
1.144k, mostly gen, Slytherin!Harry Alanna AU, updates about monthly
Summary: Harriett Potter dreams of going to Hogwarts, but in an AU where the school only accepts purebloods, the only way to reach her goal is to switch places with her pureblood cousin—the only problem? Her cousin is a boy. Alanna the Lioness take on HP.
Currently in year 4.
Why I like it: Full disclosure this is very long and it's been a while since I read the early parts, but this is a fun AU with neat worldbuilding details taken from Tortall and interesting OCs etc.

And non-schoolyear stories:
face death in the hope, by LullabyKnell
128k, mostly gen so far, time travel fix-it, updates irregularly
Summary: Harry travels back in time and rescues Regulus Black.
Why I like it: Another writer that I will read anything from, and this one is especially great, very slow pacing but careful character development and lots of nice angst. Other great HP WIPs by the author include because he strayed across the path (Prisoner of Azkaban AU with Harry&Cedric friendship) and In the Name of the Brave (first year story where Regulus teaches Potions and Hogwarts actually works as a school.)

Away Childish Things, by lettered
51k, Harry/Draco, futurefic with de-aging, updates weekly
Summary: Harry gets de-aged. Malfoy has to help him.
Why I like it: I really like tiny!Harry, and the contrast between tiny!Harry's PoV and what he knows and what Draco knows and what the reader knows/suspects works very well.

There are more HP WIPs I like but either I just forgot them or they don't update very often. Recs welcome :)

Wow, I have to say I'm sad I was in HP fandom before soulmate AUs were a big thing. Harry/Draco soulmate AU sounds amazing. I might just read it for kicks even though I haven't read HP fic in ages.
