Iron Triangle: dark magics

I heard about the Escape the Iron Triangle Exchange from
sholio and decided to sign up on a whim, totally forgetting that I had two D&D sessions that weekend, so I wrote most of my story in three hours on Monday morning. I had fun with it, and I got a great fic:
Birds of a Feather by
Artemis1000 (Krabat)
Gen, 1.1k
Summary:In his early days at the mill when summer lightens even the darkest magic, Krabat gives a promise to Tonda which he will remember not to forget.
Great Krabat&Tonda friendship and atmosphere, a wonderful nice and warm summer moment before a dark background :)
I wrote original fiction:
Raising the Stakes
2.4k, OMC/OMC, vampire hunter/vampire, sacrifice
(I tagged it m/m because my recip requested a relationship and it can definitely be read as pre-slash, but the story itself is gen.)
Summary: Vampire hunters should kill all vampires they come across.
I'm quite proud of the title, btw xD
It was written very quickly and it shows in places, but my recip liked it a lot so it was a huge success. (Also, a nonnie on f_fa called it "fairly well-written" and considering what a hurried job it was that felt very nice.) Originally I wanted to try and incorporate more prompts (I was intrigued by "consensual mind control") but I think it's way easier to leave open how their relationship changes after this. I wasn't entirely sure how the bond worked, could go a lot of different ways depending on how dark the story should be…
I wrote more in those three hours than in the entire last month, I think I need to do more flashfic exchanges! And possibly write more origfic – since I'm between fandoms at the moment and mostly write fic for various book canons, I often don't feel like I have a very firm grasp on the worlds/characters and need to reread canon every time, which slows the writing down a lot. One day I'll be "in" a fandom again, one day.
