Happy New Year!
My Yuletide story this year:
if this, then that
Fandom: Starless - Jacqueline Carey
2k, gen, missing scene, the problems with foresight
Summary: "You sought to manipulate fate based on the gift of Sight. I bear a message for you. Pahrkun the Scouring Wind says, Do not attempt the like again."
The Seer and the former shadow have a conversation.
I wanted a story about Brother Yarit pretty much immediately when I read the book, and I also love stories about the problems with seeing the future. The foresight in "Starless" was particularly interesting, the way it intersects with religion, and I had so many questions. I also thought that Yarit and Vironesh could potentially have (had) a very interesting relationship, and so this story happened.
It's not perfect, definitely not as polished as it could be, but nonetheless I'm quite satisfied with how it came out.
