Still pretty: the Blind Forest
Mar. 10th, 2021 10:40 pmAbout two weeks ago I completed Ori and the Blind Forest on Easy mode. It was fun! I told myself I should not start a new game before my exam (which I have now postponed anyway), so instead I decided to play Ori again, on Normal mode this time. The game is so beautiful *_*
The first time it took me 18 hours to complete at 99% (a few more hours according to Steam, I guess I paused a lot.) This time I got to 93% complete and the end after 8:45 hours, more than twice as fast! Of course having played it before helped a lot, but I did not remember everything and I used no walkthrough or guides this time. Instead of at the very end, I went to the Lost Grove as soon as I could, especially the Lightburst ability was often useful. It was very cool to see how much better I had become: certain areas that took me 20+ tries last time I did in one try this time! (Notably, that one area where you need to float among the spikes to get the keystones at Sorrow Pass, the two on the right – I was very proud of that one.) More often it took me about five tries, sometimes ten or more but rarely.
The only part that was a lot harder was the very last chase sequence from Mount Horu. On easy mode there were two save spots during that chase, but not on normal mode, so it took me quite a few tries. But I made it!
My wrists are not very happy with me right now, this game is harder on them than Hades (worth it though) so I will wait a bit before starting the sequel.

Date: 2021-03-11 09:52 pm (UTC)I've not finished Hollow Knight yet, but since you end up going back to earlier levels and smaller enemies a lot in that, it's soooo satisfying to just dance around enemies that previously killed me a hundred times XD
