Ted Lasso

I watched Ted Lasso this weekend, the first 15 episodes on Saturday and then four more on Sunday. (I couldn't walk very well so it was good timing.) Thanks for helping me manage expectations! It was fun. I liked it a lot better on Saturday than on Sunday, but I'm not sure if I actually like the latest four episodes less or if I was just less in the mood for the show on Sunday. Probably a mix of both.

Somehow on Sunday I was much more annoyed by characters doing stupid/mean things, even when I know it'll most likely be resolved later (looking at Nate in particular here…) I also find it harder and harder to ignore just how annoying I would find Ted in real life, and by now him not knowing the rules of the game he coaches is more neglect than fun. And I was disappointed that Rebecca's chat partner turned out to be Sam – I love Sam, and getting more Sam is great, but both of them were looking for a long-term romance that I wanted them to find and I really can't see a relationship between them working out for a multitude of reasons.
I did become surprisingly fond of Jamie, which I enjoyed, and I'm hoping for more Jamie&Roy. The team is full of great characters, like Dani, Colin, Isaac etc. I look forward to seeing how they deal with the brutal loss to Manchester City. (We did see Beard, but I'm not very interested in him, so *shrugs*) I like Dr. Fieldstone as well. My favorite reoccurring character is Trent Crimm, from The Independent. I was positively surprised by the amount of Trent Crimm/Ted Lasso fic already on AO3 ^^

I'll definitely keep watching and I look forward to seeing where it goes.

Unrelated – because I didn't enjoy it that much that I would request fic for it – Yuletide nominations are already open, how did that happen, what is time.

Usually I have more plans! This year I don't have any plans! (Well I have plans on what I would offer but that only works if people actually nominate & request those things...)

Yeah, this is a year for "wait, was I supposed to have plans???" it seems XD I finally figured out what I wanted to nominate, but it took me five days to do that :I Best of luck figuring yours out!

I also got very tired of the fish out of water gag, which was imported form the original comedy sketches, but didn't work that well after like episode 3. However, they seem to have backed off from it this season, which is nice.

I don't mind most of the darker plots, but the Nate one is really grating on me. I see what they're doing, I just don't want to watch it on my TV. (Don't care about Beard enough to have a whole episode about him, but that one and the Christmas one were basically bonus material because the season order got two extra episodes after they'd already plotted).

From the writing, Sam/Rebecca is going to be extremely short lived. I guess I hope they have fun while it lasts. I'm mildly anti-shipping Ted/Rebecca because it feels so obligatory het, and the fans are obnoxious, so anything that delays that is fine by me at this point.

I'd like to spend more time with the players, and for someone to turn out to be gay.

Everyone seems to know/suspect where the Nate storyline is going while I have no clue which option the writers will most likely go with. Not sure if knowing what most of the fandom suspects will make me worry more or less so I'll just have to be surprised.

I hadn't even thought about Ted/Rebecca possibly becoming canon... I hope it doesn't.

The show runners talk about Ted and Rebecca being soulmates, so I just assumed it was the end game ship.

But yes, more players! They're so fun. One of my favourite things last year was everyone sacrificing something into the burn barrel.

I don't ship it but I wasn't surprised - Trent Crimm (the Independent) has a luxurious mane of hair. *g*

A massive migratory slash BNF wrote 60k of getting together fic for Ted/Trent, which I think is part of the reason that took off like it did.
