Finally doing a snowflake_challenge on day 9:
In your own space, list your Fandom Wrap categories.


What are your top five fandoms for 2021 based on the amount of time you interacted with them?
1. Hades. More than 300 hours played, many fics read…
2. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. More than 60 hours played, fics read and written.
3. Castlevania (TV). Watched four seasons, read fic.
4. The Magnus Archives. The end of season 5, and I read fewer fics than in past years but still a couple.
3. Star Wars, probably. No canon consumed, but Star Wars time travel is a comfort genre and fortunately there is a lot of it.

What are your top five fandom spaces in terms of time spent? (AO3, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, Dreamwidth, and others)
1. AO3
2. Dreamwidth
3. Tumblr
4. Reddit
5. Twitter

What are the top five ways you interacted in these fandoms? (Reading fanfic, writing, commenting, watching videos, chatting with friends, making art, or anything else you can think of).
1. Reading fic. A lot.
2. Commenting on fic. Never as much as I want to but often.
3. Chatting with friends
4. Making recs
5. Writing

What things did you create that took the most time?
1. Various posts with thoughts on different fandoms on DW.
2. Writing fic. Not that much this year but my Yuletide fics took quite some time.
3. Recs, especially my series of Hades recs.
4. Fic comments. Some of them were quite long.

Have a Top 5 List you'd like to share?? By all means!
Five things I will probably not write in 2021 (but would like to have written):
1. Nirvana in Fire fusion with Disney's Mulan (Nihuang as Mulan, Jingyan as Li Shang, Lin Shu as Jingyan's advisor, eventual OT3 probably.) My newest shiny idea that I might not like anymore in a week but right now it sounds like fun.
2. Sequel to my OFC & Persephone Hades fic, with much worldbuilding and bonus Zagreus
3. Finally finish my old TAZ:Balance WIP
4. At some point, not necessarily this year but eventually, I want to write a Star Wars time travel fic (or canon divergence)
5. …I'm not finished with Hollow Knight yet but I suspect I'll want to write something for it.

I might go back to the other days eventually, or maybe not, idk.

Crafting a long fic comment is practically a transformative work in and of itself!

But snap on Castlevania, which I also discovered and then mainlined this year. Finding canon at the end so you can voraciously devour it all in one sitting is sometimes the absolute best.

It is so convenient when the story is already finished and you can watch it all at once!

(Though one does miss out on discussion/speculation/etc. between seasons. It depends on the canon/fandom what I would prefer but unfortunately it is clear(er) in hindsight and then it is too late ^^ )

Honestly, I am so used to being out of touch that I don't mind that so much. Also, it's very easy to not get spoiled if you know you're running behind the curve and no-one is talking about this any more. Spoilers were always the bane of my existance in 'current' fandoms (especially for shows airing in the US months before they came over here)

Wow, that's a lot of awesome fandom participation in so many different fandoms. And huge kudos on leaving long comments - they are so valued by writers, and also kudos on creating rec lists - they are such a great resource, both for newbies to a fandom, but also to flag stuff that others might have missed - a good rec really is worth it's weight in gold.

After a few years of doing barely any rec lists I was glad that I made more again this year :) I also really enjoyed recthething.

I always mean to write more long comments than I do, sometimes I eventually tell myself that a short comment is better than none and sometimes I tell myself that I will get around to writing a long one, no really, and then it somehow does not happen by itself...

I do too! The best thing about making posts about fandom is the possibility of persuading other people to check out these new shiny things I found :)

I'm the one who made the meme that dreamersdare picked up today about fandom length because I realized after a mate said small fandoms were under 5,000 works that when I say my fandom loves are tiny people have no idea how tiny they really are.

Which is the long way round of saying I too make posts in the hope of sharing my shinies... I'm just not holding my breath. :D

Yeah, "small fandom" can mean very different things. I once several years in a row nominated and requested a book for Yuletide that nobody I knew had ever heard of and that I had written the only fic for, and in the third year I got fic for it from a person who said that my requests had made them check out the book and they liked it, that was a great feeling :)
