I wrote a complete first draft of a 3k fic today, I'm quite proud of myself. Needs some editing (and a title) but I'm mostly happy with it, which feels great. And once I've posted it I'll finally have more than 200k words on AO3! ...now that I've said that I bet it'll take me ages to come up with a title.

Whenever writing feels very hard I tell myself that it's not a matter of just lacking a magical spark of inspiration, it's about consistent effort and persistent work; and then days like this happen and I get reminded that inspiration is very very nice actually and I would love to have it more often.

It is so many words! Of course I can't do that regularly or even often but maybe it'll encourage me to try and write more words on more days :)

I feel you on the consistent effort vs occasional burst of inspiration... The latter is really nice :D Too bad we can't count on it but that's what we've got perseverance for 😤

I hope you found a title and could reach that milestone :D I bake myself a cake every time I hit another 100k milestone on AO3 :D Doesn't happen often so it's nice to celebrate!!

One of my favorite quotations about writing is "Grace in its rare appearances must be welcomed with polished skill" (Etty Hillesum), and some days I have to say it to myself a lot...

Turns out I spoke too early! After editing the draft is now far from complete but already at 5.3k. It will be a much better story though, so it's worth it. (I just hope it doesn't keep growing and I'll be able to finish it in the not-too-distant future...)

Thanks! During editing the story keeps growing so now I'm waiting with a title to see what it looks like when it's done. I have a couple of ideas but I'm pretty sure I want something shorter than "Violence might be the universal language but sometimes words work too" ^^
