6 DSMP fusion AUs

What is this, me finally making a rec list again? Huh. This time: Dream SMP fusion AUs! I am resisting the urge to write a few hundred words about this fandom's classification boundaries (the line between DSMP and SBI AUs is often very fuzzy) and specific ship names for gen relationships (I disliked them at first but have grown fond of them.)
I think all of these can be read and enjoyed without knowledge of DSMP, though some might not work as well.
freaky creatures (turn the lights off) by
Odaigahara, Among Us fusion
3.6k, gen, funny
Summary: Tommy had been confused about the killing, wondering if they really needed all those corpses to eat and why they were shooting good food out the airlock in the first place, but once Tubbo had pulled him into the room, things had made sense again. Before that, he’d been doing what Dream said because he was alone and Dream was bigger and they had a mission, but afterwards he'd known that Tubbo and Ranboo could be like birthmates properly, guarding their cranny from adults until they were big enough to infiltrate other worlds. He'd realized where his priorities should be.
So he’d told Dream politely— or, well, not politely, he had growled quite a bit— that Ranboo and Tubbo could be included in the mission, and when Dream had come for them anyway, Tommy had fought him to the death.
Except not, because he’d woken up in an escape pod. Which was strange, because he could have sworn Tubbo had seen him try to tear Dream's head off with his teeth.
Tommy must have been a better impostor than he’d thought.
Why I love it: Impostor!Tommy! Who thinks Tubbo doesn't know he's not human, and it's hilarious. Tommy trying to take care of his human birthmates (but not really knowing how to human) is adorable.
And In the Darkness Bind Them by Anonymous, LotR fusion
2.6k, gen, dark
Summary: Tommy bears the ring to the gates of Mordor itself, and that is when everything goes terribly, terribly wrong.
Why I like it: I absolutely love the "casting" choices in this, and it has a great and very dark ending.
ETA: This has since been revealed to be a work by
SilverWing15 - I also think they made some minor changes but not sure.
A collection of dust by
SwordSoup, Hunger Games fusion
78k, gen, HG-typical angst and violence
Summary: Phil's name is scrawled on 27 individual pieces of paper. Wilbur's is only written on one. Yet somehow, the younger boy is the one who is selected to join the Hunger Games, forced to die on television for the entertainment of the ravenous elite. Phil won't allow it. He volunteers, and then a man he has only spoken to once is called to the platform, and Technoblade's eyes are an eerie shade of red, and then he's being taken away, and-
And then suddenly, Phil is dragged into a bloody and gruesome struggle for power against a country that only wants to watch him die. But he'll fight, no matter how little the odds favor him.
Why I like it: It has been a while since I read the book but from what I remember this AU follows it quite closely, with great casting. So there were no big surprises but it still hit hard. Phil and Techno have to pretend to be best friends in this, which turns out is no easier than a romantic couple. (There is also a WIP sequel that I am sure will be even angstier.)
when your parents run the universe by
thcsus, Percy Jackson fusion
27k, gen, anthology (WIP but chapters stand on their own)
Summary: “I don’t know,” George said quietly, the words tearing out of him. It was only half the truth. He didn’t know, and he didn’t want to know. He knew full well what happened to the gods’ favorite playthings. To gain a god’s attention was to invite a bloody end. Whatever his mother saw in him, he didn’t see it, and if he still had faith in her, he might have prayed that he never would. “Why don’t you go fly home to mummy and ask her?”

Or, that fic that's an anthology series following the lives of familiar campers at Camp Half-Blood.
Why I like it: These stories, each following different campers, do a great job showcasing that actually life for demigod children sucks and their parents suck too, but at least they have each other.
ETA March 2023: Looks like this has sadly been deleted :(
The Blade and the Moth by
Anarchy_Schmanarchy, Hollow Knight fusion
700 words, gen
Summary: Let me tell you a tale, dear traveler. A tale of a perfect Blade and a grieving Moth - of two creatures so different, forged in battle into a single mind, binding them close enough that not even the threat that felled Hallownest could tear them apart.
A short little nugget of an au. Philza and Techno escape a doomed world together.
Why I like it: Of course The Blade is a vessel! And this fits the vague myth-telling of HK so well.
Star Song by
SilverWing15, Star Wars fusion
6k, gen, post-Order 66
Summary: Every jedi knows how to spot a mandalorian. Which like...isn’t really hard. They’re usually massive hulking warriors in distinctive armor. Yeah, a fucking baby could spot a mandalorian.
Tommy stares at the one who’s just come into the station and hopes that he isn’t good at spotting jedi. He’s huge, easily scraping seven, maybe even eight feet in height, his shoulders broad, his body solid with muscle. Tommy swears that the whole station is shaking every time he takes a fucking step.
He doesn’t bother nudging Ranboo and Tubbo, they probably sensed the fucker coming from lightyears away or had some weirdo dream about how their fate was to die by his hand.
Stars Tommy hates the force.
Why I like it: Great casting for a Star Wars fusion and very well done, with some h/c and a lot of protectiveness and also sweet.
I think all of these can be read and enjoyed without knowledge of DSMP, though some might not work as well.
