Finally Eye Spy

I finally collected some honeycomb and put some colored candles in various places as decoration, looks good. And I finally got a trident! First thing I put on it was Mending; I was glad I already had a couple of Mending books, because I got stubborn and wanted one from the librarian in the nearby village. (It took three Minecraft days of destroying their lectern over and over until they finally offered it.) After some thought I then put Riptide on the trident instead of Loyalty: I already have good weapons, but Riptide is just cool. Faster than using a boat, too.
Clearly that meant that I had to get a turtle shell helmet next. Instead of taking the eggs back to a specific area I decided to simply breed turtles for a few days until there were a few dozen eggs on the beach where I found them, and then I defended the beach for a few nights and kept the babies close by during the day with seagrass. It didn't take too long to get enough scutes for a helmet, and then enough for a back-up, too. Conveniently the turtle beach was right next to the area the treasure map I found weeks ago indicated, and this time I finally found the buried treasure! I have a Heart of the Sea now and could build a conduit (though I would still need prismarine or sea lanterns to be able to activate it.) Once I get Respiration III to put on the turtle helmet, and with my water breathing potions, exploring underwater ruins will become a lot easier. Not top of my priority list right now but still cool to know that I could.
I also finally made a jukebox - out of warped wood, it looks the same but I liked the idea. I have two music discs, 13 and cat, and I looked up how to get more: tricky but doable, but not something I want to focus on rn. Though, at some point I should explore that bastion I found in the nether because pigstep sounds good.
Then I made two ender chests, one to leave in my base and one to carry around. Thus equipped, I set out again to find the stronghold. I got to an approximate area, but then it got pretty tricky because multiple times when I threw the pearl I didn't see where it went. So eventually I just dug down at my best guess and found a massive cavern below. It's going to take ages to light the cave up with torches to search for a stronghold, so instead I decided to go to the nearby village first and then get the night vision potion from my ender chest.
I put my first bed in this village on a balcony, which I liked so much that I decided to build a balcony for the other two-floor-house and put four more beds there, all in different colors. I didn't feed any of the villagers but the village has six farmers so there were three kids running around pretty much immediately. I also finally found another cat! A tabby cat, which I think is not quite as pretty as the red or especially the ragdoll I had before (it's the yellow eyes, they're a little eerie), but still, cat! Next time I returned to that village, after a brief return to my base for resources and enchanting etc., I found another red cat. I also spent some time getting flint from gravel to level up the weaponsmith to get a diamond sword, and after that I found two more cats, a tuxedo one and a ragdoll one.
I also added stairs to the cleric's tower and placed two beds on the flat part of the roof, and one bed on top. Three villagers immediately decided to congregate on the top of the tower and I had to build the walls higher after one actually fell off. At some point there were five villagers in that tiny room on top of the tower, one of them lying on the bed and three standing on top of them, and an iron golem in the corner… I thought about giving them bread to maybe make it look even more like a weird orgy but decided against it in the end ^^
The villagers had even more kids; I'm pretty sure there's over twenty villagers now, many of them don't even have jobs yet, and at least six iron golems. Maybe I should stop adding beds for now. I killed a pillager patrol too, which wasn't that hard with an Infinity Power V bow, that's super convenient to have.
I like this village a lot, more than the others I've found so far, not even completely sure why. But if I do stay here longer I need to have a place of my own, with proper chests for storage and stuff. I even know approximately where I would put it, near the village but a little closer to the river… But I already have a perfectly good base, and it's even in the same biome! Just far/close enough that when I use Riptide it takes me almost one entire day to take the trip. I tried finding a faster route back to my base and on the way there found yet another plains village with two more cats, I have a white one too now and another red one. But I left them there because I thought I'd have to transport my cat back to my base by boat so I could only take one. Turns out I just had to stay close to land and I could have taken all of them.
Back at the base I finally named the new ragdoll cat (Lily), finally managed to get Impalement IV to put on the trident (not very useful rn because I'm not planning to do much underwater exploration soon but I had to take the opportunity when the enchantment table offered it), and completely forgot why I'd come back to base in the first place. So I returned to the big village and found yet another (!) plains village on the way. In the big village I tamed more cats, a Persian and a Jellie, and built a warehouse outside the village out of polished diorite. I added some windows and even a skylight, I like it a lot. Originally it had birch doors, which fit well, but it's close enough to the village that villagers try to sleep there so eventually I put in some iron doors.
I left all of my cats in the warehouse and went off to look for the stronghold. I had to remind myself that exploring massive caverns is less dangerous when one is wearing full enchanted diamond armor! Feather Fall IV is very nice to have. It didn't even take me that long to light most of it, or at least most of the main area, and I didn't even end up needing the night vision potions. I didn't see the stronghold though so I threw more eyes of ender from the surface. They pointed to one specific coordinate, but when I dug down there I fell into the cavern (figuratively), and when I threw more eyes from the bottom of the cavern they went up to the cavern roof, so for a while I thought the stronghold had to be above the cavern and was frustrated when I didn't find anything there. In hindsight I think I just drifted too far away in the water, because when I eventually simply dug down where the eye had first indicated I found the stronghold at level -40. Finally!
Looking for the portal room was very quick in comparison. One of the first rooms I found was a storeroom where I could put a bed and chest on the second floor, then a library (sadly only a small one), then another storeroom, and when I went down a hallway where I could see a chest from there I could already see the portal room. I'll need more eyes of ender, but I wasn't planning on going through the portal immediately anyway.
Instead of exploring the rest of the stronghold I went back to my base with the seven cats I'd found – well, that was the plan, only three of them actually arrived ^^ so I'll have to go back and find where the others got stuck along the way.
Next, adding some more enchantments to my armor and weapons, and then, to the End!
In the meantime, DD decided to leave more nether exploration for later. She built a forest of warped trees behind her base, which looks super cool, and some of them even have bee hives attached. She also put an aquarium on top of her base. I really need to find a warm ocean, the coral is so pretty.
