schneefinkI'm back from vacation! It was great. Very relaxing, I really needed that.
Then on Saturday I went to the traditional summer party of one side of my family, which I always enjoy but which this time sadly meant I missed out on watching MCC live. I managed to stay off the dangerous spoiler-filled places until I watched the whole event this morning, at least, and it was a lot of fun. Which is why instead of writing about my vacation or book reviews or recs I first wrote more than 2k of excited MCC notes. I even have an icon now!

Wheee! MCC with Etho! Everyone was so excited for it in advance it was amazing.
I watched the whole team practice on MCCI the team before, that was already a lot of fun. Favorite moments included Scott telling the story of how Etho got into MCC: Scott saw a clip of Grian and Cleo talking about it and concluding that Etho probably wouldn't, so he decided to just reach out and ask (and give Etho a pass for not streaming) and Etho agreed. (I might have feelings about Etho not being asked for stuff because of his fame since I saw the same rumor about him not joining Hermitcraft earlier.) Scott also said that he planned to make the Boatem team for Pride but Scar and Pearl sadly couldn't make it on that day, maybe one day though!, and Scar said all of them would wear Mumbo skins. Also Etho being disappointed he doesn't get to play Buildmart – one day Buildmart will come back! Grian also explained the MCC games to Etho the day before, of course he did, I bet he's very jealous he doesn't get to play with Etho in MCC. And there were many people wearing Etho skins and one person called "ethogirl," Etho mentioned that and then said the mention of "Etho girls" during the charity stream confused him, he thinks it's a Tumblr thing, Scott explains it's a fandom faction of sorts. Etho said he's looking forward to playing with all of them, even Scar; Scar indignantly says he wasn't even going to call him washed up, and then says he'll have to remember not to call him dad xD and Scott says a Limited Life Clockers family team would be fun. It really would. Scott says fans love him right now because he gave them the gift from god: Etho in MCC xD
Okay, on to actual MCC. Scar talking about how during the Life series he tried to get the idea of MCC in Etho's head but didn't think he would actually join, and how he and the entire MCC Discord were so shocked and excited to see he was in :D I bet there'll be a lot of that.
Aww, Scar talking about how much he loves Joel and Tubbo when they appear on screen behind him in the lobby ^^ Soo many cool skins in the background already, love Impulse's too. And Purple Pandas with the coins as their eyes!

That last round in RSR, Phil winning at the end there against fruit, whoa :D

HitW seemed particularly brutal this time. But yeah the map looks cool. Also Scar finds out that when someone crouches and punches it looks like they're shaking their ass, so we get Scott shaking his ass in Scar's face ^^ Scott and Shane also keep flirting occasionally, fun
SkyBattle Remix: FBM accidentally killing Scott in the first round by placing an unnecessary block xD and then hiding in the pillar. That lost him captain privileges. Second round: Cyan eliminated all of Pink except Tommy so Pink beg people in chat not to hurt him. Fruit win, such a surprise. And Scott did really well the third round! Scar got three kills too. He loved this remix a lot, he just wanted to make sure Scott knows that and can maybe pass along to other people he knows that the remix is really cool.
I don't think Scar has successfully thrown a chicken into the wheel so far xD

MD: Etho immediately frozen by Joel, entire team immediately eliminated by Aqua *shakes fist at Joel* First round won by Red in a landslide, what a surprise. Just glad it wasn't played later. But they did so well in the third round! At one point Scar tried to shoot an enemy heater multiple times until Etho had to come and punch to destroy it xD Scar got so excited he needed some extra oxygen I think. And Pearl came in fifth, whoa. Apparently Scar came seventh in MD! Cyan in third!!
Battlebox, Joel shot Etho again xD But they did really well, five wins a draw and three losses, and now they're in second!!! Whoa!! "Guys, have we explained Dodge Bolt to Etho?" xD
Ace Race, FBM to team: "You can do what you want, I'm not your dad." Scott: "I can still call you daddy though, right?" …Scar: "Love you daddies." SCAR. He was so exhausted at the end! 33rd, not bad, though. And Etho just barely made it before the timer ran out!
Grid Runners! Etho: Come here you little piggies, come to your master… xD And a Redstone challenge! Where Shane of all people did well :D I later watched GR from Aqua and Green, just out of curiosity. Impulse did quite well, and Ranboo and Phil together also did great, Green actually won that room. Scott joked about Etho is playing the whole event just collecting ideas for Hermitcraft.

That was a very fun SoT. Wow Orange and Red are in there foreeever. Red is the last one in! And won by almost 900, whoooa. Cyan came fourth, well done.
And fourth overall, too, only about four hundred points behind second. They did so well, a lot better than most people expected too.
Yellow vs. Red – aww, I was hoping for Pearl to get her first win! Scott supports Red because Yellow has the more recent winners, and Etho joins him, but overall there's more Yellow supporters.

The "participating without streaming" exception is one time only – apparently Grian got the same the first time he participated and enjoyed it so much he started streaming it xD I doubt Etho will do the same so "one time only" seems likely, but he did say he'll contact Scott if he ever starts streaming.

I'm very glad the admin stream followed Etho during SoT (about ~2:18 into their stream) so we can see how he did. He looked good for someone completely new to the game, he almost made that one lava parkour too.

This team said in advance they would take a drink every time they died, so, the drunk team, expected to come last from the beginning. I wasn't originally going to watch them but then I saw a clip of Tubbo's reaction to Etho being there and that was so hilarious that I changed my mind.
I tuned in at ~0:54 to see him freak out about seeing Etho, first he hid from him then he got a screenie then he started crying xD Saying he watched every single episode of his LP, later gasping again when he comes across him, aöslkd his excitement is so adorable.
Then when Pink is just fooling around before RSR Tubbo mentions his hero Etho is on the server, Tom writes "Etho Tubbo loves you, he wants to kiss you" in chat, and Tubbo just immediately quits the game. Twenty seconds before the game starts. He was so distraught! Poor guy. Tom apologized after and said he didn't mean to send it, then during RSR threatens to say the same thing again, which makes Tubbo use the pre-established "safeword" for Tom to stop the bit ^^

Meltdown: they did good in the first round, coming second only to Red, and then beky starts swearing and Tubbo asks her to stop and then asks to throw her off the team when she doesn't, and then Tubbo solo kills Red, 1v4!! Go off Tubbo. "Red Rabbits got fucked! Fucked like some dilf!" Then they face Cyan, Tubbo freezes Etho and immediately apologizes ^^ while eliminating his team with Jack. And in the third round too, they got second again, Tubbo is so good at MD.
Tubbo neglected his slushy duties during break *shakes head* But he did do a very good job rigging the audience poll.
Why does Jack ask Sneeg how far off his baby is during Battle Box xD And Tubbo telling Purpled to go outside and touch some grass after getting killed by him (only to then immediately apologize)

Date: 2023-08-06 08:43 pm (UTC)(Sadly have nothing to add in reply to your excellent MCC commentary since I am still Very Ignorant of all the Minecraft things, though my sister did a valiant effort to educate me on DreamSMP and QSMP this summer - there was a Powerpoint and everything - so I'm expanding my education on Minecraft-adjacent media bit by bit XD)

Though it is easier to get into if you just follow one or a few creators. Do you remember who her favorites are? :)
I would also be glad to help educate you more on Minecraft-adjacent media, but I would feel bad trying to get you into something else than your sister since I think siblings should have priority ^^

My sister usually follows Philza and sometimes BadBoyHalo. She's even made a BadBoyHalo cosplay that's pretty neat! She got herself a "dapper son" at the convention we went to this summer :D
I don't mind getting more newbie-friendly tips about Minecraft media, but yeah, I think my sister has sibling-dibs on Dream SMP and QSMP XD

I watched Phil for quite a while; I mostly stopped when the QSMP started because it's too chaotic for me to follow along but I do like the stories I heard and the clips I've seen of Phil and Chayanne. And what I've heard about Bbh sounds fun as well, but I've only watched some of his DSMP episodes. Which I don't think are canon to QSMP?, idk it gets confusing. I heard he lost Skeppy at a gas station xD
