Turtle journal

I went to a Christmas market last week and saw a beautiful black leather journal with a blue marbled turtle on the cover, and I stared at it for a while but then I told myself that I have some empty journals at home that I never use and I have no idea what I would use it for so really why should I buy it. And then I got home and was still thinking about it, so I went back the next day and bought it. Still no idea what I will use it for but I will call it my experimental journal! I'll just try things out and see what sticks. It's so pretty and feels good to hold that I'm confident I'll at least want to use it sometimes.

(I also bought a colorful thick wool jacket, I might have paid too much for it but it is very cheerful and cozy and brings me joy.)

I always like starting a new journal on 1st January, but honestly, you should do what makes you happy. The journal — and the new coat — sounds lovely!

Anything tied to New Year's Day is cursed, do it now!

Sometimes, I end up liking the anticipation more than the actual thing, so I would wait 'til 1/1 and be excited about it.

I voted Jan 1 because I like the anticipation and ceremony of that sort of thing, personally, but of course you should do what you like! I also like the idea of an experimental journal in which you just do whatever.

This made me google a bunch of pictures and realize that I don't know a good word for long-sleeved vests in either German or English... also this wool one might be too thick?, but it's not long enough that I'd call it a coat either, but it's for inside so jacket doesn't seem exactly right either. Words are hard!

I'm just hoping it actually works! I think I need to start with some very silly things so I don't fall into the constant trap of "that's not important/pretty/etc. enough for the journal." Maybe actually try using it for to-do lists too, not sure yet.

I usually go to Christmas markets for gifts to others but almost always find something for myself as well :) I also got some nice chocolates and a good horseradish dip this year.
