Last weekend was Twitchcon in San Diego. Several Hermits went and I enjoyed the panel and pictures, and I especially enjoyed MCC Twitch Rivals.

MCC Copper Crown: Grian on the Pink Parrots with Scar, Gem, and Fruitberries
Such a fantastic team! I was already very excited about it, especially for an in person event, and then Grian declared that he really wanted to win. And the was serious: they did multiple practice streams together focused on fruit teaching them PVP and on team coordination, a lot of VOD review, and developed strategies for the different games. They were originally predicted mostly around 3-5, but more people started to believe in their chances after that.
The event started with Meltdown and they got last. A bad start for morale but they did emphasize that they knew it was their worst game and it was good that it was played early. (Lime won! False is great at MD.)
Next: Railroad Rush, they got a dominant win which catapulted them into fourth overall. Their planning and coordination paid off! I only saw afterwards that Scar was almost a second too late reconnecting their line ^^
Next: Survival Games. And it turns out it matters much less that the other teams have more good PVPers if your team has fruitberries, whose SG instincts are amazing. And even though they didn't have good luck with gear or mobs, they stayed together until the end and Grian and Fruit were the last two survivors and they won!
During the break there was an award ceremony for the new "Craftys" and Hermitcraft was given the "Heart award," aww. Scar gave the speech, and he later said that he'd been confused and thought the award was about the charity stream ^^
Next: Ace Race. Pink won again!! Fruit got second (after Pete, unsurprisingly) and Grian got eighth (!), thanks to VOD reviewing, he shouted out Antfrost multiple times.
They "only" got second in Rocket Spleef Rush, but were still first overall by a lot. But the coin multiplier for the last game is the highest so they kept emphasizing that they weren't in DB for certain yet, even though they were confident they'd do really well in Grid Runners. However they struggled with some of the new rooms and ended up fourth.
Which was still to comfortably get them into DB, and they even remained in first place by 40 points! Fruit went from last to first overall during the event, he did so well. Grian ended up in tenth, which is how he'd said he'd do – at some point he said if they didn't win he wouldn't be able to show his face because he'd talked a bit too much ^^ He kept locking eyes with Jimmy and Oli on the blue team.
DB against team purple, one of the teams predicted very high. They won the first two rounds but then lost the next two because otherwise it would have been boring, game 5 it was!
It was very clear that the audience was on Pink's side, at one point one of the Purple players even wondered if the audience hated them because she didn't realize that Pink had some of the biggest MCYTers on it. That was the highest-accuracy DB I've ever watched I'm pretty sure. Game 5, Pink already eliminated two of Purple when suddenly Purple hit two shots and then it was Grian in a 1v2, the audience started chanting his name, he took deep breaths and then hit both arrows – pure cinema. Couldn't have scripted it better. And it was live too, I loved seeing the hugs and fistbumps and Grian actually crying, aww.
(Well, it would have been better if the stage had been wheelchair-accessible. They knew Scar would be there but he couldn't even make it on stage to accept the crown.)
A fantastic event overall. Grian and Scar sitting next to each other was so good. Only Grian's second win, amazingly, and it'd been a while for Fruit as well. And as a bonus, the short Scar guest appearance on Tubbo's stream a little later was very sweet, I always enjoy Tubbo fanboying Scar. (And the next day in the soccer match they both played in Fruit wore a jersey saying "Grianfan" (and he said he put that there before even knowing Grian was on his team), I was not aware of his levels of fanboying ^^)
One of the best outcomes of this win is the ton of amazing fanart of Pink Parrots, I definitely need to go and reblog a ton of that.

I remembered I haven't posted about the other MCCs this year yet.

MCC Blank Canvas: Scar on Cyan Coyotes with Antfrost, FalseSymmetry, and Joel Smallishbeans
MCC Blank Canvas started season 5, on n May 3 2025 - first one in ages! And a very exciting one. I watched this one with my gf and I had a great time – she struggled a bit to keep her eyes open in the second half because she is not a night owl but still enjoyed it overall ^^

That was fun. Cyan was predicted to do well and they did – one shot away from winning DB in a reverse sweep! Very close. (Tbh I was just happy that Green didn't make it to DB.) [ETA: five months later, I don't remember why I was so happy about that; Green was Martyn, Purpled, SettingSunset, and Smajor.]
It started with Build Mart, which Scar finally got to play – and tried to build on the wrong plot at first, oops ^^ They did really well in 2/3 rounds of Meltdown, which is a relief because MD is so luck-dependent and can really get morale down. Then they got first in Parkour Tag!, even though they were worried about that game. Joel in particular did so well. Then Sky Battle, chaotic as always but especially on this map, not my favorite tbh but they did ok.
Slushies are stackable now, game changer xD
Battle Box went ok, not great but not terrible. Scar did very well in Ace Race!, 25th, practice paid off, no catastrophes. Then a great performance in SoT which they won and that got them in first place, with only Purple and Green even with a chance to catch them. Sadly TGTTOS instead of Grid Runners for the finale, boo. But they still did fine. Grian wishing him good luck in chat, aww. (I wonder if he sent the same to every hermit like he did in a recent event ^^ )
Scar was targeted a lot in DB, but he did get one elimination, at least. They lost the first two rounds and took it to a game 5, not in the least because False is an excellent shooter, and it was sooo close but they lost. Oh well.
Scar did very well individually too, 18th!, his best placement so far. And even top 10 after the first few games. False, Ant, and Joel had great comms – Scar seemed a little overwhelmed at times and I could relate tbh but it all worked out very well.
Fun skins as always, especially Scar not even knowing who Regina George is because he hasn't seen Mean Girls, but he immediately was on board with being a mean girl ^^ He kept complimenting Cub and Skizz on Blue every time he saw them.

MCC Blank Canvas: FireBreathMan on Purple Pandas with CaptainPuffy, Krinios, and snifferish
I also watched Purple because FBM had a legendary performance. Started out with the team doing really well in Build Mart, shoutout to sniff on comms.
Apparently FBM has a rivalry with Antfrost? And Ant was on the same team was Joel, I already look forward to DB from this PoV. Oh apparently Antfrost told him that he's bad at PKT and then FBM got third indiv, nice.
SKB: the contrast of FBM laughing in triumph at blowing up Antfrost and then apologizing seconds later for killing Scar was very funny. 9 kills in the first round! 17 total – and of course the first thing Antfrost replies is “no kill record for shane”, lol. One off.
Huh, they “only” got fifth in BB, well they're not a PVP team. Dominant Ace Race performance by FBM, no major mistake and an almost 9 second gap to 2nd place Purpled, almost over 14 seconds to third placed Antfrost. (Meanwhile, Etoiles joking in chat and Phil telling him he's the star on everyone's tree ^^) Eighth place in SoT, fortunately they had a big enough lead. Sad they didn't get to play GR, but as a silver lining FBM got first in TGTTOS and a very impressive first individual overall.
That would have been a very deflating DB loss, happy for Puffy she managed to clutch that 1v2 at the end.

MCC Colour The World
Live from Twitchcon Rotterdam. I missed most of it because I had plans that evening, but I did watch the last bit and then a few clips afterwards (I don't think I went back and watched a complete perspective.) I felt a bit sorry for the German team who got a dominant first place but lost in DB exactly like the previous year, but aimsey with the 1v4 in game 5 was epic.

MCC Pride 2025
I also missed most of that event because of plans. I was delighted that Cleo was participating again, slightly less delighted that it was in a team with Scott. Iirc I only watched a couple of clips afterwards.

MCC Builder's Guild: Etho on the Pink Parrots with Jojo, Scott Smajor, and Jimmy Solidarity
That one was fun. I really enjoyed the Build Challenges between games. Other than that I remember very little about the event tbh. Etho wore a Shrek skin! So many people freaking out about that was very funny, he had said before he would probably be willing to change his skin if someone asked. The wiki tells me that they did very well at Build Mart and played SoT last. Etho got 17th!, nice.
