schneefink: River walking among trees, from "Safe" (Moya)

I finished Farscape season 2! Finally.

The Locket: Some episodes are less interesting from the beginning because you know there'll be a reset button. Aeryn with a family is a nice thought, and so she and Crichton at least had a long life together in one timeline. Where the heck did Stark come from? How did he know how to find them?

The Ugly Truth: Talyn! Crais! All the others seemed a bit strange from any perspective. It was interesting to see how the story changes: Apparently Aeryn doesn't have a very high opinion of Zhaan's competency (which disappointed me), and D'Argo values John's opinion, and if I remember correctly Stark and John were the only ones who put themselves less in the center of the action. Stark is still strange, I don't really care much about him.
I like that Moya agreed to stop her almost-hopeless search for Talyn to rescue the others.

A Clockwork Nebari: Yet another implant!Scorpius-saves-Crichton-plot? Eww, the scene where she takes out John's eyes is creepy, I don't even want to imagine it with Aeryn. The Nebari conspiracy is so fucked up, they probably become a more major villain later and with good reason. I half thought they were actually attacked by Peacekeepers... I forgot what a little asshole Rygel can be. Poor Pilot. And Chiana, but that was so over-the-top it was a bit hard to take serious. I think I often forget that she's a teenager, mainly because then it makes me uncomfortable to think of her in a relationship with D'Argo.

Liars, Guns and Money 1: A Not So Simple Plan: Suspicion is fine and all, but the guy came back from the dead and instead of enjoying life he came back to help you find your son, so maybe lay off Stark a bit, D'Argo, man. How cool is Zhaan as a space pirate captain? Very :D

Liars, Guns and Money 2: With Friends Like These: I don't get why Natira killed the 10,000 Banik slaves. Wouldn't selling them have given her more money? Or if it was Scorpius, why did he do it?
Assembling a crazy pirate crew, heh.
D'Argo is puzzling me here, and I understand the relationships between the characters on Board Moya less and less. I wonder a bit why it took everybody so long to understand what John was doing when he left Moya (Pilot would have noticed), especially when Jothee came back; don't they know him better than that?

Liars, Guns and Money 3: Plan B: How badass is Aeryn? Shooting her way through a hallway full of enemies while blind, seriously. In a great leather coat. Also really determined: the scene where she begs Crais, ow.
Crais, Talyn, yes! \o/ They are great. I love how Crais doesn't accept Aeryn's thanks and says it was all Talyn, after saving Moya and her crew and especially Crichton. Have I mentioned how much I like seeing Aeryn and Crais together? When I've finished watching I want to read all the epic fics about Aeryn and Crais and their adventures.
Again with the eyes! And a very weird thing to strap John too. To be very shallow for a moment, he suffers very nicely. The scene where he stands in the hallway and can't stop staring at Scorpius... and of course Aeryn simply knocks him out. Then in the end when he goes increasingly crazy and begs D'Argo to kill him, ouch.
Seriously, a bank like that doesn't have better planetary defenses?
I don't really care about Jothee yet.

Die Me, Dichotomy: AERYN, NOOOO! She has to come back, I know she comes back, of course she comes back - but there was a body and everything... Ouch, when D'Argo gave her his sword and Rygel his necklace, and John only wanted a lock of her hair, and Crais and Talyn grieving...
I was delighted that Crais and Talyn asked Aeryn to come with them, I enjoyed John and Aeryn confessing their feelings to each other, I liked the flights on the planet and how Scorpius!John still enjoys flying, in general Scorpius!John was well done, and the things in John's brain looked very creepy. And then, oh Aeryn :( And just so it gets worse, Scorpius :(
There was a sideplot with D'Argo and Chiana: I can see how Jothee and Chiana would fit together, maybe even better than D'Argo and Chiana, but it seemed very sudden.

Season of Death: AERYN! I knew it! I don't know why Zhaan didn't try that sooner, but whatever, Aeryn is back. She's the best.
Aeryn, honey, it's obvious that the reason you give for not wanting to sleep with Crichton is a weak excuse. How can you say it's about emotional attachments when you just confessed your love to each other? Sleeping together won't make that much worse! I'm not sure how much of it she believes herself or how much she's just telling herself, she has issues, oh Aeryn you need more hugs.
Scorpius' controlling device is creepy! And so is he. And his neural clone, I enjoyed the scene with John beating him (and imagining himself cheers ^^) very much, even though I almost expected it to go wrong.
Crais and Talyn were great again. They don't even know that Aeryn is alive again - I'm looking forward to the reunion! The new credits (not used to them yet, we'll see) show Crais as a regular, yay.
Unfortunately also Stark, still not convinced by him. If he and Zhaan are so close I want a better development of that! Oh Zhaan :( I loved her knocking out Stark and doing what she has to do.
I'm disappointed we didn't get more reunion scenes with Aeryn in the end: not with Pilot, or Chiana, (or Rygel), almost none with D'Argo... instead we got a Chiana/Jothee subplot. Meh. Looks just like unnecessary complication that makes me like all of the characters less.

I had great hopes for season 2 because many people assured me it was even better than season 1. But I was disappointed, mainly for two reasons.
1) Lack of plot: there is much less overarching plot than in season 1. In season one Crais was much more present, and then there was Moya's pregnancy etc. In season two Scorpius is very distant most of the time, and if he appears it's along and it's harder to see why he's so dangerous. Later John-goes-crazy becomes more prominent, but that's not enough for me and also contributes to the second problem:
2) Less crew feelings. In season one we saw a lot of becoming-friends among the crew, it was beautiful, and that continued in early season 2. However from the middle of season 2 it seemed to me that the focus was much more on Crichton than before and we got less of everyone else. Hardly any Aeryn&Pilot, for example, or Aeryn&anyone except Crichton. Zhaan was delegated to the Doctor role and very rarely had more exciting things to do, Chiana was the teenage daughter, how aggressive D'Argo was seemed to vary wildly (tbh some of that might be my memory), there was very little Rygel except him being annoying, and I still don't know what the deal is with Stark - suddenly I'm supposed to believe that he and Zhaan are soulmates despite what little you gave me to support that claim?
It's not that I don't like Crichton, but concentrating on him so much makes everyone else more boring. The lack of reunion scenes with Aeryn after she comes back from the dead is the perfect example of this.

I wasn't sure before "Die Me, Dichotomy", but I'm most likely going to continue watching. Normally I'd just assume that every series has a few bad episodes, and season 2 did also have some fantastic ones ("The Way We Weren't", for example), but I'm a bit worried because I heard that both season 2 and 3 are better than 1, but I don't want s3 to continue in this direction. Oh well, I'll see.
In conclusion: AERYN SUN <333333

OH MY GOODNESS, "Die Me, Dichotomy" totally killed me dead. I somehow managed to watch it on TV when I was still episodes away from it on the discs I was watching, and I was alone and traveling, and I was so so upset, it was really quite ridiculous.

But now I kind of want to watch it again, it was a really good episode.

I'm so glad you are continuing to watch! I really am loving reexperiencing the series through your eyes! Makes me want to do this with TV shows I'm watching.

You know, I don't remember either all that well, but I remember Season 3 more than Season 2, so...based on that, maybe you'll like it more? High praise, I know.
