DADT is (almost?) repealed (I´m not sure how American legislature works exactly, but everyone seems convinced that the repeal is certain.) I´m very happy and also relieved.
I planned to do a post on how I started to take gay discrimination (and discrimination in general) seriously, how I feel it affects me personally and how I see the situation in Austria, but I want it to make sense and I haven´t found the time yet. Also it´s not easy to find coherent words. I just had to mention it here otherwise I might get lazy and "forget".
I just wanted to share this: In Vienna we have two free public transport newspapers; they´re both low quality and rather populist. One of them is still better than the other and I picked it up today because I was bored. On the first page there was a short note that read as follows, translated loosely by me: "Barack Obama reforms the military. Finally: Homosexuals are allowed to serve in the US Army."
That "finally" was such a wonderful surprise.
