Date: 2017-04-25 08:32 pm (UTC)The character I least understand: Ivan. He seemed to switch from incredibly dumb to actually fairly smart all the time, iirc, and it was hard to get a handle on him.
Interactions I enjoyed the most: Mark & Miles, for the awkwardness yet slowly developing brother feelings, and Miles & Gregor, because "childhood best friends now lord and subject" is always an intriguing dynamic and the fact that Gregor ordered Miles executed once just makes it even better.
The character who scares me the most: Difficult, there are many scary characters. Probably either Mark or Miles. Probably Miles, because of his impulsiveness, and capability for absolute chaoas.
The character who is most like me: Probably some background character I can't remember right now. Maybe Kareen Koudelka?
Hottest looks character: In my head, definitely Cordelia.
One thing I dislike about my fave character: While it probably would be quite easy to argue that the planet isn't ready for it, Gregor never seems very interested in abolishing the Imperial system for a more democratic one because being Emperor is very convenient.
One thing I like about my hated character: None of the characters I hated were so memorable that I remember their names or specific characteristics. Maybe the guy who created Mark? Then... I guess at least he created Mark?
A quote or scene that haunts me: Can I cheat here? The first scene that came to mind is actually from a Yuletide gift I received, a missing scene from "The Vor Game", The Pivot. Gregor.
A death that left me indifferent: Changing this to "a death that did not make the impact it should have:" Aral Vorkosigan. The placement at the end of the book was odd, it was one of the weaker books anyway, and I didn't feel like it got the weight it deserved.
A character I wish died but didn't: I can't think of any right now.
My ship that never sailed: Nothing I was really attached too. If I have to pick one, probably Ivan/Byerly, because there was some good fic for that pairing.

Date: 2017-04-25 08:52 pm (UTC)The character I least understand: Ben Organa. I read that apprently the novel clarifies that Snoke secretly spoke to him since he was a child, but still. How did this happen.
Interactions I enjoyed the most: Finn&Rey's and Finn&Poe's delighted moments of mutual appreciation <3
The character who scares me the most: Hux. Fucking nazis *shudders*
The character who is most like me: Rey, maybe? Without the awesome Force powers, and the mechanical knowledge, and the flying, and the fighting...
Hottest looks character: Hm, either Finn or Rey. Let's say Finn today.
One thing I dislike about my fave character: The way Leia treats Chewie. Even back in Episode IV he didn't get a medal when Luke and Han got them for some reason, and when the Falcon got back after Han died iirc she barely looked at him. It just seems odd.
One thing I like about my hated character: ...apparently he's competent? Which is bad, because he's evil.
A quote or scene that haunts me: Chewie's shout when Han falls.
A death that left me indifferent: Not indifferent, but five whole planets being destroyed definitely didn't have the weight it should have had.
A character I wish died but didn't: Hux. I haven't given up hope, there's still a good chance he'll die in the sequels.
My ship that never sailed: Two more films to come, so never say never, right? Rey/Finn/Poe.
And from all the Star Wars canon I know:
The character I least understand: Yoda. He's supposed to be so experienced and wise, but his actions don't make that very plausible.
Interactions I enjoyed the most: Can I just put "the clone troopers in The Clone Wars" here? So much good stuff, when they were talking to the Jedi and to each other and to outsiders. If I have to pick, probably the clone troopers with droids, it was always a fascinating contrast.
The character who scares me the most: Palpatine. Not when I first watched the movies, but The Clone Wars made him scary.
The character who is most like me: Huh, this is difficult with so many to choose from. Bail Organa, maybe? Or Jyn.
Hottest looks character: Kit Fisto in The Clone Wars. Ahem.
One thing I dislike about my fave character: Padmés "canonical" reason for dying makes no damn sense.
One thing I like about my hated character: He's very smart. Which is bad, because he's evil.
A quote or scene that haunts me: Hm. Maybe Anakin walking up to the temple to kill everyone inside. Or Rex and the other clone troopers on Umbara, with Krell taunting them; more accurately the entire concept of the clone troopers, bred and used for war by the "good guys."
A death that left me indifferent: Yoda's. That didn't really change after seeing the prequels either.
A character I wish died but didn't: Many died. Hux is still alive, but hopefully not for long.
My ship that never sailed: Anakin/Obi-Wan/healthy communication and conflict resolution.

Date: 2017-04-25 09:00 pm (UTC)Interactions I enjoyed the most: Kaylee & Inara were sweet together, even though we don't see enough of it. There's one hair-brushing scene that I love. Also Zoe&Wash.
The character who scares me the most: The guys with the blue gloves.
The character who is most like me: Simon
Hottest looks character: Zoe
One thing I dislike about my fave character: Simon can be very awkward on occasion.
One thing I like about my hated character: Mal cares about his crew a lot, and he usually means well. (Not really the guy I hate the most out of everyone, but the one I dislike the most of the crew, because he's presented more heroically than Jayne.)
A quote or scene that haunts me: The blue gloves, and Leaf on the wind.
A death that left me indifferent: Any apart from Wash, I think.
A character I wish died but didn't: Did the guys with the blue gloves die? Probably those who "took care" of River before Simon rescued her.
My ship that never sailed: Hm, I can't think of any right now.

Date: 2017-04-25 09:31 pm (UTC)The character I least understand: This was surprisingly difficult, probably a sign of how well Pratchett portrays characters. Granny Weatherway, probably, and she'd like it that way.
Interactions I enjoyed the most: Death & Susan.
The character who scares me the most: If I was on his bad side, Vetinari. But he usually acts quite rationally, so maybe the Auditors.
The character who is most like me: Hmm. Polly Perks? Or Angua? I wish.
Hottest looks character: Angua, probably.
One thing I dislike about my fave character: ...Susan can be quite impatient, brusque, a bit thoughtless etc., but as a character I love all of her.
One thing I like about my hated character: I can't think of anyone I actively hate, Pratchett manages to make even his villains entertaining. (I'll probably think of someone later.)
A quote or scene that haunts me: SO MANY good quotes. For example Sam Vimes' theory on economics featuring boots, and policemen having to be civilians or they're soldiers, and Death about the difference between the sun and a flaming ball of gas, and and and.
A death that left me indifferent: Not many major character deaths, fortunately, and they were usually quite fitting.
A character I wish died but didn't: None come to mind right now.
My ship that never sailed: I think I read a fic featuring pre-Sybil/Vetinari once and it was unexpectedly intriguing.

Date: 2017-04-29 02:57 am (UTC)Yay Discworld!
Death and Susan are a GREAT pair. Pratchett is really good at character interactions, gosh. I personally probably love the witches interactions the most. :)
Also w o w, Discworld is so unbelievably quotable and memorable. LOVE Sam Vimes on boots. I also think a lot about the interaction with Susan and Death about believing the small fantasies so that you can believe the big ones like justice and mercy.

Date: 2017-04-25 09:52 pm (UTC)The character I least understand: This is difficult, because the show does such a great job showing different characters' motivations. Eunuch Gao, maybe? I can never quite figure out what he does on purpose.
Interactions I enjoyed the most: Jingyan and Mei Changsu, so many feelings every time.
Also Consort Jing and the Emperor. She's so clever :)
And Mei Changsu and Lin Chen, because Lin Chen is such a delightful troll.
I also really liked Jingyan interacting with his ministers. And Mei Changsu and Meng Zhi. And Mei Changsu with his whole household. So many.
The character who scares me the most: If I got on his bad side, Mei Changsu. In general, Xia Jiang.
The character who is most like me: Xia Dong? Probably wishful thinking.
Hottest looks character: Tie between Jingyan and Nihuang *_*
One thing I dislike about my fave character: Jingyan could stand to be a bit less impulsive and think a bit more about consequences for the larger picture.
One thing I like about my hated character: At least Xia Jiang and the Emperor care for their families, if very badly.
A quote or scene that haunts me: Liyang stepping forward and confronting the Emperor. And Mei Changsu sinking to his knees when Jingyan cuts the bell cord, and later calling after Jingyan in the snow.
A death that left me indifferent: Xie Yu, & Prince Yu.
A character I wish died but didn't: Hm, actually I can't think of characters I wanted to die but didn't, right now... It's a revenge story, it's all about the bad guys getting their richly deserved ending. I wonder what happened to Qin Banruo, but she almost certainly didn't get off lightly.
My ship that never sailed: Jingyan/Lin Shu, because Lin Shu died :'(

Date: 2017-04-26 09:42 pm (UTC)Gao is fascinating. I don't know what he's thinking, either, but he seems fond of Jing-fei in some way? Or maybe he sees what's best for the country? Huh. Good question.
no subject
Date: 2017-04-27 06:20 pm (UTC)Gao seemed at least slightly sympathetic toward Jingyan from the beginning, but also very, very cautious, unsurprisingly considering he's survived at the side of a paranoid temperamental Emperor for many years. And he does seem fond of Consort Jing.
...I don't remember, but when the Emperor walked through the garden "coincidentally" near her palace, was he going anywhere in particular? Could Gao have had a hand in his route? Probably overthinking this.
I'll have to pay more attention to him when rewatching.

Date: 2017-04-28 09:24 pm (UTC)New headcanon: Gao really admired Consort Chen.
