Buffy: Halloween

schneefinkI just finished watching 2x06 "Halloween", so have a few random thoughts about season 2 so far.
Okay, maybe I missed something, but since when does Buffy let herself be pushed around by Giles like that? What sort of authority does he have, even when he's being a dick? I was so happy when Willow told off Giles and Angel in "Reptile Boy." You go, Willow.
Speaking of Willow, ghost!Willow is cool. Her and Buffy are very good friends and I love it. I'm really looking forward to Willow becoming more self-confident. And Oz constantly wondering who she is is cute.
Still not a fan of Xander. He's still not especially smart, not really considerate, his macho tendencies get on my nerves, I'm not at all interested in his crushes. Admittedly he is funny, but meh.
I knew about Spike through fannish osmosis, but I think even if I hadn't he'd be very interesting. Looking forward to more.
As for Buffy, I keep having to remind myself that she's sixteen. Poor Buffy :( Just wanting to be "normal" and having to deal with vampires and stuff. Sure, at the end of Halloween she says that she likes being herself and being able to do what she can, but the contrast was rather extreme. Also? She's sixteen. I probably would have thought differently when I was sixteen myself, but it seems incredibly young for what she has to deal with and Giles should acknowledge that, damnit. (Also Angel is way too old for her.)
For some reason I'm much slower in watching than I thought, it'll probably take a while until I even finish s2. I'm collecting my favorite quote per episode on Tumblr here.
